Title: 9V battery, then another set of 9v batteries. What for?
Post by: Rick_Palo_Alto on December 22, 2019, 08:10:41 AM
Hello,

I have a 2009 Further Stage model, and when I open the back panels, the small panel has a single 9v battery.

The larger panel contains yet another 4 (or 6?) 9v batteries, all hooked up together.

Which batteries run the actual pre-amp, and what are the other batteries for?

PS-  I have the LED lights on the top of the fretboard.  Which battery runs that?

Thanks!

9v battery is for the active electronics and 4 x 9v batteries are for LEDs.

Welcome to the club, Rick!  I’m just a bit up the road in Orinda, and also a Further owner, along with a few other Alembics and guitars sporting Alembic electronics.   I assume your Further is a recent acquisition?   Be warned, these instruments have a high potential for addiction!   Enjoy it, and don’t be shy to ask any questions around here.  Though most of the active members play bass, there are a few of us skinny 6 stringers too.  Have you visited the Mothership up in Santa Rosa yet?  If not, it is well worth the drive north.  You can arrange a factory tour, and they will literally treat you like family.  Also, we LOVE to see pics of Alembics.   You can post them over in the Showcase section, if you are so inclined.

Title: Custom Ingraving Pic

Hi guys,

Thanks for the quick answers and nice welcomes.

Yes, I visited Santa Rosa and Mica and bought a truss rod cover plate and had it custom engraved (see pic).

Also, I was not impressed by the metal medallion logo on the Further Stage Model headstock, so I took the guitar to my friend (name withheld for now) who did a custom engraving.  The results are really stunning,  Take a look at the attached pic(s).

He also did a "Bolt" cover plate for another guitar project, attached pic FYI and enjoyment.

Bear with me friends, as I will be needing some advice soon on some set-up adjustment questions!

9v battery is for the active electronics and 4 x 9v batteries are for LEDs.

Oh I didn't know that, I thought 4x are for preamp and 1x is for LED...

Nah, even Alembic Series electronics takes only two 9 volt batteries.  And the 9 volt preamp battery in my Further lasts a LONG time!
