I THINK that one's been for sale on and off for quite a while, though it looks like different pictures than the one I was staring at for months.  8) Seems like a great price now. Real beauty. I couldn't spend that much on an experiment (never had owned a 6er), but I recently picked up an early 90s Peavey Tim Landers TL-Six which is a really excellent bass for under $600. Made in USA, neck through (5 piece maple/purpleheart), ebony 'board, and 2 more purpleheart strips between the neck and the maple body wings. Nice neck width, and it's very thin and flat front to back. Someone had swapped out the stock dual P pickups with Bartolinis and a Bart pre. It's a cool bass, I'm starting to bond with it!

That lacewood Orion is also in the TalkBass Classifieds.

Brian's maple Europa 6 would be mighty hard to pass up iff'n I wuz' a-lookin'...  :)
