Title: (x) That German Series II #14743
Post by: matbard on November 23, 2019, 06:19:49 AM
Hello Guys,

I just discovered this beautiful bass at Station Music in Germany (the only place in Europe that stocks Alembic instruments...):

https://www.station-musicshop.de/epages/64398533.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/64398533/Products/4397 (https://www.station-musicshop.de/epages/64398533.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/64398533/Products/4397)

It appears to be a "Mark King 1988"'s replica.

I remember that a similar bass (or maybe the same bass?) was sold from Bassdirect in England some months ago.

It has a sating neck. Could be that a factory job?

Many thanks to whoever is able to supply me for more info!

- Matteo

Satin feel necks have become somewhat of a standard. I would assume it came from Alembic that way, yes.

And my goodness what a looker... all that maple and purpleheart is enough to make a good dog break his leash.

32" scale? Get. Out. Now.  ;D

Do it, you know you want to. Life is too short to miss out on a dream bass. 👍🏾

I'm not sure the year they started but a satin finish on the neck has been an option for a while now. My 2005 Orion fretless was built with a satin neck as was my later Series 1.

I bought a Series 1 from them earlier this year, my experience with them was great. I agree with Jazzy, life is too short etc.........
BTW mine has the satin neck, which is pretty much standard now, I wish my Epic had it, although I could fine rub it?
Happy shopping.

That quilted maple is just supreme! My only regret about the collection of Alembics I play is that I don’t have a 3a or 5a quilted maple bass. Koa, supreme walnut, burl maple, but no quilted maple.

I have a 5a quilted maple alembic which is awesome sounding but visually it is so dominant on stage i feel self conscious whenever i use it so mainly use it on large venue gigs or festivals. Photographers love it and afterwards i get to talk about this incredible brand Alembic to other musicians.

Station Bass always has the most intriguing builds of most any dealer out there, someone has amazing taste.

The classic Alembic in the point shape, double quilt sandwich over mahogany, this is the stuff dreams are made of.

When I´am on that side I can not understand how to get there the regular way.

Going back to the previous page: Products > Vintage Guitar Advertisements
I´am unable to find a way from Products > to the adds...

Stupid me... Can you help?

Best regards!

Claus, there's a big update to the site coming up, so no point in memorizing the linkage of the current site.

There is a link on the main page to the What's new (http://www.alembic.com/info/whatsnew.html) page, which has the link to the page with all the VG ads.
