Title: "Set GPS To The Mothership"
Post by: garyhead on November 18, 2019, 09:11:33 PM
Greetings All:
Getting a bit excited for a road trip starting Wednesday for Santa Rosa.
I left my 6-string Classico at the shop after the 2017 NoCal Gathering X for some sprucing up (no--not the wood Spruce) and an Electronics Upgrade!
New Headstock veneer And a MOP inlayed logo!  Nicks & dings removed and an electronics upgrade to handle all the wireless interference invented since 1996!
"Mother Mary Called To Me" that the bass is ready to pick up.... Not thrilled to put this in a 6'+ box and bounce it around in a UPS van for a few days so will drive the 700+ miles each way to bring it back home.
Heads up Mica (& Mary) I'll be at the shop this Friday (11/22/19) ..... Christmas is coming for me in November this year!
I'll post 96CB9610 in the Classico Thread when I receive it.....I do not have any real good "before" pictures to post.
Can you think of a Better Excuse for a Road Trip!   8)

Great news Gary, i'm sure the trip will be worthwhile. How long will that journey take?
Electronics upgrade........., does that mean the classico has electronics and pickups (single coils) similar to the Series basses with the hum cancellor?
I know inside mine there is a big copper clad compartment inside and beneath the controls so I presume that is to stop a lot of interference. I've only heard any on mine when I have my mobile phone in my pocket whilst playing.
I hope I never need that upgrade as a trip to HQ from Europe is not going to be easy or cheap!
Pictures of the sprucing up would be great to see.

I'm just a little bit closer than Jazzy, but it's still 2,719 mi (4,376 km) from here to the Alembic HQ. I very much hope to make the trip out there this-coming year.  :)

About 2 hours away from Alembic. Currently in Williams, CA. To Jazzy—- drive from Portland, OR to Williams, CA in 7 1/2 hours. 515 miles. The interstate highway (I-5) is very efficient when out of major cities. Today I will take it a bit slower as I’m on smaller highways through the mountains on my way to the coast (Hwy 101). Very scenic BUT it will take me through the recent wildfire zones so that will be a bit sad. Only a 2 hour drive to complete the remaining 92 miles.  Beautiful Fall weather this week but I smell smoke in the air.... it’s burning somewhere.

Hey Gary - you'll need to stay occupied for at least an hour - 10:00 is the earliest someone will be available in the showroom.

Unfortunately Mica.... I bided my time at the Liquor Section at the Santa Rosa Costco......Tequila is on sale there and 1/3 the price of Washington State.   The Classico is held in place in the back of the SUV by heavy cases to prevent “damage in transit”.  Had a wonderful visit with your Dad and Aunt Mary.  8)

Nice Gary, can't wait for pics.
Wish I can come to Alembic to do the same thing on my old Series 1 bass.

Me too I would love to give my 1980 series shortie a spa treatment one day.
