Title: I think the 90º angled plug damaged my jack ...
Post by: mario_farufyno on November 08, 2019, 07:37:27 PM
Okay, my Rogue is over 20 years old now, but the jack started to fail and I got the impression that it was because of the plug forcing the internal contacts, specialy when the cable is held by the strap. Has anyone else gone through something similar? Thoughts?

If you've never replaced the barrel jack, 20 years a good long stretch. We stopped using them on most new builds because of their short life (usually only 5-10 years). And we sell pre-wired replacements in our online store in sets of 2, so you can have a spare in the case, just in case.

It tends to be the diameter of the connector - many are _slightly_ larger than 1/4", which is very annoying considering they are called 1/4" connectors! But now there's all sorts of strangeness in connectors, and some are weird lengths, contacts at the tip cut way in and miss the contacts on the jack. Things that don't adhere to the standards are kinda common.

Oh, yes, you're right. Now that you've mentioned I realised that I do used some odd connectors over these years... should have been more carefull. Thanks, Mica.

I've had the same problem on my Rouge with 90 degree plugs and I think it was Jazzyvee said don't use the plugs with the moulded rubber , ie. Monster, and since the change alls been well.

Mica, now is the time to get the new volume pot that I've been postponing for so long.... How can I order one along with the jack?

I answered your email about the volume pot - but it didn't mention the jack as well. You can order the jack on the webstore, and mention in the comments you need the volume pot too. We will then ajust the order and send you an updated invoice. Should be pretty easy.
