I'm much more familiar with Alembic bass pickups, and not very much at all with the various guitar shapes available... but I can't recall seeing any like these before. Not sure if they are legit or not. Hopefully someone here will recognize them or knows for sure they've been doctored up can weigh in.
The woodwork, filling the old pickup cavity with some attempt at grain-match, and the zebrawood plate is pretty darn cool, whatever woodsmith did it.

TC/AE-1 is the Activator set for a Telecaster.

Ah! Thanks Adriaan. I did recognize it as a Tele kind of setup. That's pretty sweet. I'm not much of an electric guitar player, (or any kind of guitar player for that matter) but if'n I was... I'd be hatchin' a scheme to bring this one back over States-side.

Don't buy from the eBay reseller who marked it up about $100. I found the actual Japan listing on Digimart. I ran it through Google translate for the English translation. If it's still available, it is located at a second hand shop called ReRe. Their price is stated at 164999Yen but Japanese prices include 8% tax which an international buyer is not required to pay. Therefore, the gross price 152799Yen which is approximately $1850USD according to xe.com - But then you'd have to discuss shipping with the shop.

Thanks for the CSI work. ;) I actually have passed the information on to guitar-playing friend who also appreciates Alembic craft. (and happens to favor Telecaster type guitars)
