Hi again.
Here is a pic of my SN and body top on my "new to me" baby. Waiting on some parts and info from service to get her going but would love to know the birthdate of her! Seems a basic Epic 4 and I would love to know the actual SN and info. My previous request ended up with a consensus of it being 7906 but that came back as Flame Koa and this really looks maple, in my opinion.
Thanks for any help!

Well, it looks a bit like bird's eye maple, so I would assume it's the same as the top on my Spoiler that Mica once termed "watermark koa".

Your Epic is definitely Koa, Rich. The pores have a more open texture than Maple. Also, Koa is one of the few woods that gets lighter in color over time. There's a Maple veneer under the top, and it's considerably lighter than the Koa top.

Ah. That bubbly stuff fooled me before too!
For what it's worth Rich, #93W7907, the twin sister to your bass there is the same wood recipe'. http://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=6053.msg66209#msg66209 They must have made a few of them from that board. ;)
Told you these threads are sometimes interesting.

Hi all!
Watermark Koa, that is cool. And a beautiful Spoiler there, Adriaan!
Thanks again for the clarification Mica. I should have kept my Carvin longer! LOL
Bubbly stuff :) So I am going with Bubbly Koa when asked! Thanks for the link on it's sister edwardofhuncote!
Glad to be a part of this community!
Have an awesome day everyone! Time to go work some wood fittings loose so I can put her together when my screws and bridge kit come tomorrow.
