My band Nomadic Horizon will be releasing our debut full length LP on June 14. I'm releasing a handful of tracks leading up to the release date, and the first two feature my '86 Distillate bass. Here's a link to "On With the Show" with the bass starting things out loud and clear. Enjoy!

Nice, reminds me of the Cure. The music, not the singer/vocals.
The bass sounds great.

Funny that you say that. I had wanted to do something with sort of a signature bassline like you hear on a lot of Cure songs. I came up with it in my head on a plane coming home from a Florida family vacation and managed to remember it until I got home! The original working title was "Back From Florida". 8)

Great recording! I'll try to listen to it again tomorrow when I can play it through my stereo.

Taking my headphones to work today!

Thanks, our producer/engineer Mat Prock does excellent work. I definitely recommend enjoying it on a real stereo. This track also has the Distillate. A little heavier. A lot of the "guitar" harmonies are actually electric violin...

In the second song during the guitar solos, the bass really shines; nice lines!

I'll say it again... the folks on this Board have mad skills. Shoot... if I ever did figure out how to format anything so it's post-able, I'd be hesitant to do it.
I especially like the bass intro on "On With The Show". Well done.

Thanks so much guys. I'm really proud of the way this record turned out. There's one more Alembic track that I'll be posting over the weekend.
-
OK, one more! This one is played all finger-style. The other two were with a pick. This is a fun instrumental I wrote with Jeff Beck in mind. Our guitarist took my melodies and embellished them with his own flavoring, and also created nice harmonies for our violinist. This is call "Coastline".

Nice instrumental!

I like that!! The little ornament you play at 1:37 was exhilarating.
I gotta' get my Distillate out today.
-
great tune and tone!

Thanks again guys. I just got notice that the CDs are arriving tomorrow. Was a bit of a nail biter as our release show is this coming Saturday!
-
Sounds good. Very clean bass. I've recently started playing bass with a pick more.

Agreed... that is an excellent description for it!
Tom, you guys sound like you are having a lot of fun... keep on keeping on!

Yes, very much so! That's what it's all about for me at this point in life. Fun and self expression. Picking up some fans along the way is icing on the cake. The album release show was really a great success. Next show is at the Mainstage Theater at Pheasant Run in St. Charles, IL on August 16 if anyone is in the area.

Loving the tone, especially the second track.
What does the rest of your rig look like? Were you recording direct or mic'ing a cab?
-
Thank you! I ran 3 tracks - DI, Ampeg B-15 (70s), and a Mesa guitar head through a 2x12. That gear all belongs to our producer/engineer Mat Prock.
