Title: Custon 2006 EVH 28" Scale
Post by: dgansz on March 18, 2019, 10:29:28 AM
Greetings, all--

I've been a guitarist my entire life, and I'm pushing 60 years old.  I just picked this up on eBay, strung piccolo (it's a 28" scale).  I slapped a set of 45-100s on, and I'm in heaven!

Cheers,

David Gansz

Welcome. Given the addictive quality of Alembics it's time to start contemplating...

What's next !?!

David —
I just bought this bass and am looking forward to getting my hands on it.  I understand that it was set up originally at Alembic with baritone guitar strings and for piccolo tuning at ADGC.  When you strung it with regular bass strings, did you modify the nut so that they would fit?  I would like to use baritone strings and piccolo tuning and am wondering whether I need to replace or build up and recut the nut.  Thanks in advance for any information you gain give me about the bass.

I thought for sure I’d need to file the slots on the nut and bridge, but the 45-100s went on perfectly with no mod whatsoever.
