It’s arrived today like new, not even a scratch, no missing finish. It seems that the first owner put it under the bed for thirty years. Probably, because I worked six hours to correctly set up the truss, the nut, the bridge, the action and the pitch ... not to mention the keyboard, dry as a stone and the frets, dirty and oxidized. Lemon oil and Duraglit .. Now both shine. The neck was too straight because the owner left the bass without strings for years. I put on a new set of Dogal nickel steel 40/100 and now it's perfect!
I paid it € 1500 and I’m happy..

Always great to hear about a safe arrival.... the waiting is the hardest part. Really interesting top on your Elan, glad you were able to give it some TLC. Enjoy!

Happy for your happiness!
Beautiful.
Cool that it still has the build sheet with it.
-
Thank you Pauldo . It has also the sales receipt (3.200.000 lire on december 1991) and the original warranty..time machine!
-
That is a wonderful top; in the second picture it looks like it was chiseled from stone. Congrats!
-
Beautiful Elan !
-
With shining bridge is even better !
-
congrats, it is always great to share these Alembic moments

I’ had forgot the feeling with this marvellous fingerboard, how it’s easy for the right hand with such “tiny” string interspace..very super fast playing with my Elan.
-
Beautiful Walnut top! Love it. May you have many years of enjoyment.
-
Beautiful bass. It does indeed look just like new. Congrats!
-
Thank you. I think that the first owner didn’t play this bass for long. He was a collector or something like that. The frets and the fingerboard doesn’t have a scratch. I’m sure that it is cause of the incredible constructive quality of alembic basses. There was the protective charter on the backplate yet, it was a challenge remove it after thirty years..the glue was dry and I had to use nail polish remover..
-
I had to laugh a bit, when I read about your trouble getting the back plate loose. On my '09, which I bought new...I had the same problem! I just used a little masking tape to lift off the plate which had also gotten a bit stuck after only a few months!!
-
;D the problems are behind the corner, when we put our hands not to play, but to fix or set or clean our bass.
-
Wow! What a beauty! Congrats!
-
oh, that's a beauty, congratulations... really nice top
-
Congratulations for giving that beautiful base a home and a life! I recently got an unused 20+ year old Epic, mint condition, so I understand that kind of joy. Yes, they're beautiful instruments and I can stare at mine for many long moments, but they're made to be played!
-
Hi Tennesseemick, thank you, share a pic of your epic.
