Title: (x) Serial request - Epic 95W8867
Post by: Narcotix on January 14, 2019, 04:29:27 AM
Hello :)
I am new to Alembic bass, and want to know about this masterpiece.

The hardware for this bass is almost in perfect condition, but not the electronic parts.
The pan knob and volume knob is malfunctioning and seems like they both need to be replaced.
I opened the back side and the parts were unfamiliar.

Whrer can I find  parts for replacement?
Other than that, it is in awesome condition!

Thank you for the helps!

Hi and welcome to the Club!
The first thing to do when pots or switches are not functioning properly, especially if they have not been used for a longer perod, is to turn them from fully open to fully closed and back, and to repeat that say thirty times. They are self-cleaning, and you should not use a cleaning spray on them.
If you say the electronics look unfamiliar, it might be helpful if you can upload a snapshot of the electronics cavity so we can see if it has the original setup (which I think is the case).

Thank you for the information :)

By the way, what I meant by “unfamiliar” was, because it has Alembic’s electronic parts.
What I mean is it is different from what we normally use for the other guitars.
Different from normal pots and etc.

So, I can tell that, electronic parts are not changed from original.
I will try what you’ve told me, and I will upload the picture of the electronics later.

Also, I’ve changed the serial number from 95W8857 to 95W8867

I miss read the one digit.. lol

It will be very appreiciated if I can get some general information about my bass!

Thank you very much! Mica!

So, this is the information about my bass 8867 right? Not 8857?
Haven’t seen Koa this bright before :)

This awesome instrument stays in South Korea with me right now!

It is amazing if I think about how far it traveled around world!

Thank you for the information again, and I will try to self-clean the pots first, and let you know if I needs any parts!

Yes, this is for 8867 as is the current title of this request - you've got the right details. Koa is a funny wood, one of the few that gets lighter over time (Walnut does too).

I also love to see how far the basses travel - makes everyone more connected I think.
