Here's a sweet old Distillate guitar with an entertaining description:

"Alembic Distillate. It is Distillate of Alembic, a luxury instrument maker.Woody beautiful design, brass parts is a luxurious guitar drifting. The powerful control  very attractive, and it can output various sounds.Through neck unique long sustain etc., unique manufacturer., Other guitar. Never getting out sound model. The string height is on 12 frets, 6 strings side is 1.7 mm, 1st string side is about 1.5 mm.Controls will also work without problems.Neck is straight, there is rod margin, frets are over 90%.Fret is being repaired at the repair shop, and it has scarcely decreased. There are dents and buckle scratches, but it is a very good performance condition.Externally there are cracks finely in the whole, the atmosphere is preeminent."
..
I especially love that it is "a luxurious guitar drifting" whose "atmosphere is preeminent"!

Sounds like a Google translation from Japanese to English.

I have a good friend who spent a couple years in Japan, first as a musician at Disney, then a much more lucrative job as a teacher, who taught English and Japanese interchangably. He explained to me one time why it was, and I can't remember exactly why, but there is a reason they don't translate anything like Romance languages do. Some of them are just as humorous the other way around... for instance, he went into a Tokyo music store one time and asked if they had a banjo, The clerk showed him to the restroom. Apparently the words for them are phonetically similar. (make whatever joke you want outta' that!)

*Just for the sake of the thread - I love Distillate guitars... such a simple, elegant design. I'm not guitar player enough to need one, but I'd sure like to find one over here. They turn up every now and then, and get scooped up quickly.

I use to work with translators when translating the manuals, messages and user interfaces for the products I developed. I would spend a lot of time with the Japanese translator and tester talking about context to ensure things got translated correctly.
