So how many of us are going to welcome in the New Year with our fingers caressing our wonderful instruments?
I'll be jamming at a party with Wolf (Sonicus) and some members of his band, "The Dead Guise".

I don't have a gig, (wish I did) but I will most certainly be ringing in 2019 with an Alembic tonight... plugged into an F-1X preamp, a couple thousand watts of amplification, fed out to a bank of speaker cabinets. 8)
As an aside, New Year's Eve is my anniversary of sorts... the first paying gig I ever had was a New Year's Eve party. That $34 changed the course of my whole life... I can get PAID TO DO THIS?! :o

One of the best things about my time working for Vanessa Davis Band was that they refused to book St. Patty's Day gigs, and tried to avoid NYE ones. We're going to a party tonight for the first time in a number of years - but I won't rule out an early departure & early to bed (it's hell to be old when the night is young.......)
Peter (who just spent 2 weeks with grandsons aged 6 & 3 - which was wonderful, but also reminded him how much he's gotten used to peace & quiet lately!)

We were booked last minute for tonight. I for one am not crazy about NYE gigs. In fact, this
is my first one in 19 years. It can be a bit like The Purge out there. So much for the movie
we had planned to watch. Oh well, headed out, wish me luck...

Good luck Kenn, travel safely.
When I was doing NYE it was in a Swing Band and we had a regular spot on the lakefront at a retirement community... home and unpacked by 11:00!

Played a gig up the Poudre Canyon tonight. Lots of snow in Colorado. I started the day driving from Boulder to Centennial in the blinding snow to the US Citizen and Immigration Services to assist in getting my client (an excellent guitarist and recording engineer) citizenship which was approved on the spot. Back to Boulder in more snow and then up to the Mishawaka Amphitheater in still more snow, great gig, and then even more snow on the way home, turning a 2 hour drive into closer to 3. I've now been up for 24 hours. A sometimes tense but ultimately rewarding way to bring in the new year.
Happy New Year, everyone!

In spite of the hassles snow brings as its coming down at least you'll have something to play in after it stops. Here in south central Minnesota we have an inch on the ground with ice underneath. The Nordic ski team I coach will be competing once again tomorrow on man made snow so ill be spending this afternoon applying klister kick wax to 76 pairs of skis.

Played a NYE gig last night..Really would have rather have stayed home...Low turnout due to a variety of factors (Phish in NYC, DSO in Jersey, probably 3-4 other GD type bands in the area, torrential rain).
-
We played NYE at a local bar last night. Turnout wasn't a good as expected due to the rain. That said there were still a LOT of people there. Most important is that it was a heck of a lot of fun. The Alembic sounded great and got lot of compliments. Quite happy today!
Happy Hew Year, everyone!
