So last year at this time I was playing a than new Fender Elite JB, and found a ding on the back of the neck. No idea how that got there.
Last week I was playing a Fender CS '62 JB relic, and was moving something while holding it and bumped the back of the neck on that resulting in a ding... >:( . That one really hurts as that neck is just amazing.
Just this morning I was playing my SCSD that I've had for ten years and found a ding on the back of that neck. I don't remember it being there before, and it's possible it's happened on a recent gig that had a too crowded stage.
None of these affect playability, it's more of an OCD thing on my end..
Do you guys get these fixed by steaming or drop filling or just live with them?

If it's minor, you might steam it out enough to live with it, but drop-filling, followed by leveling and buffing is better. If you're that OCD, (pot calls kettle black, here...) I always tell my customers to consider hypnosis, simply because I can't make them forget it ever happened. (I'm good, but not that good...)

Small one I (try to) overlook. Bigger, or palpable dings I drop fill and smooth over (unfortunately I've gotten pretty good at this).

I just live with them and consider it part of the character of the instrument like the wearing of the finish from use. While today I wonder why I ever did it my 76' Jazz Bass has a sanded out burn spot at the cigarette holder location. If I ever sell it I'll add an extra $100 to the price just for the mojo.
