Title: (x) Hi Mica. History request on a 1992 Europa 4 please. 92 U 7129 USA
Post by: mb94952 on November 20, 2018, 04:34:46 AM
Hi Mica,
I just bought my dream Alembic. I've owned just about every model and never fell in love until an Epic a while back, and now my new Europa. I saw a purple Europa 4 for months at GC Concord and kick myself for never buying it.

Well, I finally had another chance to buy a Europa and I didn't hesitate. It took me months to finance it until I could take delivery of her, but well worth the wait.

Serial Number is 92 U 7129 USA
Thank you. I also would like to inquire about getting side LED's / Fiber Optics installed as after market mods. Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,

Glad you are loving your Europa. Here's what I found in the instrument file:

serial number: 92U7129
model name: Europa
model number: ULB4
top: Flame Koa
accent: Maple and Walnut pinstripes
body: Mahogany
neck: 5-piece Maple and Purpleheart
scale: 34" long
fingerboard: Ebony
inlays: Pearloid (plastic) ovals
body shape: Europa
peghead shape: Europa 4
pickups: Alembic MXY
controls: volume, pan, filter, Q-switch, bass cut/flat/boost, treble cut/flat/boost, mono output
originally made for: Rock Block Guitars, TN
birthday: April 7, 1992

The original owner was in Tennessee.

Installing LEDs after the fact is approached as remanufacturing. We remove the fingerboard, we reuse the original if we can or we make a new fingerboard, install the LEDs, reglue the board to the bass, do inlays, refret, route new battery compartment, make new backplate, and refinish the edge of the neck (or the whole bass depending on your wishes and budget). I'll have to take a look at some images to confirm it's possible to do the work before you would send it in. I can give you an idea of cost after I see the pictures to make sure there aren't any surprises :)

Hi Mica,
Thank you so much for the quick and extensive reply. I really appreciate you. I would not have guessed that the the top was flamed Koa. Pretty cool.

Like I said, it's the BEST Alembic I've ever felt in my hands.

As far as the side LED's / Fiber Optics go, I might just go Fret FX depending on approximate cost / turn around time go.

Thanks again Mica,
Mike B.
