lovely bass though I wonder why the pickups are turned the wrong way round.

It's in the lower hemisphere....therefore upside down! :) AND their toilets flush the other way around.....

Hi
Goran, Over the years of searching for the perfect alembic i have learnt to see the things that don’t look right as much as the things that do. So when i see a bass that looks good i think about what would put me off buying it and thats when these oddities show up. I do miss lots of things and others here with a keen eye miss nothing and i learn a lot from the collective knowledge of members here. 🤩🤓🤓🤓🎸

So, do you expert guys think that this bass has something wrong?
I contacted the seller, because last saturday I had my first encounter with a Series II in my life and now I'm in love...

In all seriousness, I don't see anything that looks out of order except for those pickups being reversed. Just can't imagine carelessness... and I'm forced to wonder why someone would do it on purpose. Could be nothing more than someone experimenting... who knows? Quite easy to put them back like they belong, but I bet you'll have to zero out the hum-canceller again.
It really is a pretty bass. Good Luck with your dealing Matteo. ;)

I was thinking about this bass, but I'll defer to you. It looks like a great one! I don't see any red flags.
From the pictures, it looks like there might be some bumps on the back of the neck from the different neck woods expanding and contracting at different rates, but that's not a deal killer. Somewhere on this message board, there is a post from Mica on how to deal with it. It's possible that it's just artifacts from the photography.
I know what you mean about Series II. I have those electronics in my Starfire and I would never go back. Everything else seems like a compromise.
Good luck!

It’s an Alembic.... but “CIBMELA” pickups....

Since this bass lived in Indonesia for the beginning of its life, the humidity there really creates havoc for finishes. There's a lot of shrinkage on this bass, and I would probably refinish if it was bothersome to playing. While not cheap, you may decide to keep it natural, because this is likely tinted in the paint only.

Personally, I think the bass would look better natural. In fact, if it were natural, I would have snatched it up already.
Don't get me wrong, it is definitely beautiful as is, but not my cup of tea personally.

You are scaring me...
