Title: Zebrawood fingerboard?
Post by: pauldo on October 18, 2018, 06:57:15 PM
Anyone have opinions on a zebrawood fingerboard versus ebony on a fretted bass?

My son is looking at a Kiesel custom.

I know, I know...  he has played my Distillate and loves it,  not in his budget, plus he knows when my time comes he will be the new caretaker for my precious Alembic.

I seem to remember someone mentioned it doesn't smell very nice when fresh-cut, however I have no idea if the smell lingers when exposed to the air for a longer period.

But for a fretless, maybe Jaco-poxy would cure that.

I seem to recall the smell is something akin to a sweaty zebra. Like Adriaan I don't know if it goes away or not when left exposed to the air.

Pau Ferro could be a nice alternative
