Stephen, looks like a sibling....very nice! :)

Beautiful! Looks to be in pretty good condition and compared to others I've seen in a lot worse shape, reasonably priced. What do others who have had SCs think about neck drop on a medium scale like this one?

Yeah, neck dive is the big concern for me with the small standard body...and I'm in driving distance...

Neck Dive ??? Are not we supposed to hold the neck with the left hand anyway ???

Kyle Brock shows off a solution to Alembic neck dive here (0:50-1:10) if you don't mind it-

Neck Dive ??? Are not we supposed to hold the neck with the left hand anyway ???
You know I never realized how much of a thing it really was until I stopped playing my SCSD and played jazz basses exclusively for a year. A few weeks back I went to play my SCSD and that neck wanted to go south badly. I don't think I ever noticed it before or I just got used to it but it's a thing.
I love Alembics, but Im not sure I can go back to playing the SCSD now...I might be in the market for something that balances better.

It bothers some people more than others. It bothers me a lot. I like a bass to stay where I position it without having to hold it up as I'm playing. I found out the hard way when I bought my aluminum neck Kramer many years ago and never played it on a strap before taking it home. :o It's especially troubling for me as I often double on keyboards.

I don't really have a problem with neck dive on my SCSD, but then it's short scale. I'm just thinking the combination of the small standard body and medium scale could be problematic. I have a Spoiler and a Distillate that are both medium scale, but the strap pins are attached to the upper horn instead of the back of the neck, so they balance well for me.

Looks like it's sold. Or at least, no longer available.
