Do moderators ever meet? Well yes indeed they do, sometimes.
Pictures courtesy of the wonderful Wickershams.
It gave us a good excuse to go have a look at the Grand Canyon, whilst in the general area.

And I got to test drive some items in the showroom ...

Looks like a great day! :)

I'm hoping to make it to the new facility sometime during my tour. The closest we will be resident to there for part of the tour is somewhere near Palm Springs so just wondering if there is an internal flight we could get form around that are to somewhere close to Alembic's facility. I just looked at the map and it calculates about 8 hours by car which is not going to make for a relaxing day especially leaving in time to get there before closing time.
Any suggestions welcome.

Jazzyvee,
The closest you will get is the show on September 2 in Saratoga, CA which is within a couple hours of Alembic's Rohnert Park HQ. But you'll be traveling there from Fresno (south) the night before, and then traveling on to Lincoln, CA (NE) for a show on the 3rd - plus, the 3rd is a Sunday...
The question you should ask is; where are you staying the night of the 3rd and where do you leave from to head back to the UK. Most likely that would be San Francisco's airport SFO which has direct flights to the UK?
If you had the opportunity to delay your departure by one day and found yourself staying near SFO, that puts you a little over an hour's drive from Alembic. But still not easy because public transportation over here would not be easy and you do NOT want to take an Uber or you'd spend every penny made on the tour.
You'll be that close ... but it's not easy to get there.
That tour is going to be a ton of fun!

That’s Labor Day weekend - big national holiday. I imagine the shop will be closed. If you make it to the Bay Area, give a call and I’ll come get you. We’ve moved since you were last in town, but not too far, and we still have a spare bedroom you are most welcome to use. If Alembic were to open, I wouldn’t mind driving up and saying howdy.

While the shop is closed on the weekends, I'll be glad to host a visit from you, Vince. I live only a few minutes away and will be glad to see you again! Sorry there won't be anyone else there but I can show you around the new digs and you can check out some new work.

Gosh you guys are so kind. I think i will find out more on the logistics when we get to the states. Also a few of the band members and their partners are planning a trip to Vegasfor 3 nights. I have been there a couple of times whilst on a tour some years back and my other half is not really excited about Vegas so we will mainly be doing our own thing. Looking at the schedule that is likely to be between the 28th and 31st August. So our journey will start from Palm Springs area. Mica and Bill i will give you a call when things are much clearer. If you have changed your phone number Bill, can you drop me an email so i have it on my phone.
Thanks again.
Perfect example of why this is a great place to hang out on line.

That brings back some warm memories. The 122F we hit on Route 66 as much as the family welcome. Is it 5 years already?
(You won't be sorry you didn't do Vegas.)

My wife and I flew to Palm Springs from Oakland last year when we went to Joshua Tree National Monument, the Alaska Airlines flight was about an hour and fifteen minutes. We don't have a spare bedroom to offer but if you do end up staying with Bill in Oakland it would take about an hour and a half to drive up to Rohnert Park from here. Would be great if you can visit the Mothership while in the states and with three free days it seems doable. If you do come to Oakland you are more than welcome to try out my Series five-strings.

Message sent through the Alembic site with my current contact info.
We’ll be around the 28-31st. I have court on Monday morning, the 28th, but am free after that. The new Alembic digs in Rohnert Park is less than an hour North of here mid-day when the traffic is light. In addition, we could likely put together a mini gathering while you’re here. Wolf (Sonicus), Stephen, and Harry (Heironymous) are all close by.
