Title: Trying to break 50k on Alembic's custom quotation system.

Just for fun, I tried to break 50k on Alembic's website. It was harder than I thought!  :o

Wow, what a beast that would be.

Maybe add a mandolin neck...that might push it over 50K  ::)

I stepped up and ordered a custom Alembic Series II 4 string. Pre spiffs and pre discount the list price came out to be $48,220.00. I'm expecting an estimated delivery in February of 2019 according to Susan. This bass is going to be a perfect blend of a nod to the past in some respects and will also incorporate some firsts for Alembic based on what Susan tells me. The option pricing came in surprisingly lower that what I had expected. Don't worry - once the bass is done we will share pictures of the finished instrument. The fine folks at Eddie's Guitars have been a dream to work with. I couldn't ask for better service from Susan either, she dove into her wood stash and found some amazing multi-colored walnut that is only a fit for the body style that this one will have. She's also an absolute delight to speak with every time we communicate - interesting lady with a lot of insights about life outside of the business of making great instruments. On most specifications I went all out, reasoning that I've come this far so why not get the details right as there are a lot of "off the menu" feautures that are in the design. Liquidating some instruments that are replaceable to fund this build. I'm 51 years old, sitting here with a heart stent in my large artery so I'm living a dream while I can. I wonder what the record retail price is for a new Alembic build?

Plated hardware instead of polished brass should do the trick!

...and maybe an extra cost flight case!!  (The heartiest of congratulations, by the way!)

I would visit the mothership in person to pick out the wood!

Congrats on the new build!

As far as the record retail price, I'm guessing Phil Lesh's Osage Orange bass. I'm sure any of these basses could have the price raised by a built in Superfilter.
