Indeed. Sorry to say, I didn't begin to truly appreciate the man's gifts until well after.

I went to his 31st B-Day in 1973 when they played at Roosevelt Stadium in Jersey City, with The Band opening.

The Roosevelt Stadium show may have been my only GD Jerry B-day show, to be honest I can't remember. Definitely a day to celebrate and honor Jerry for his amazing musical contributions!

Still listen to him every day.


BTW - that Jersey City show had a cheesy fireworks display on upper bleacher's railing that spelled out "Happy Birthday Jerry". It was lit at the open of the third set (so after dark) the crowd loved it.
