Title: Back... To the Elan!

No matter how hard I try, I just can't get Elan basses out of my head. I just purchased a fantastic-looking '90 Elan 5 on Reverb (was also for sale on the Alembic classifieds). The finish is grape burst. The pickups are oriented right up against the neck and bridge. Never seen that before on an Elan. Anyway, I'm excited to get back on the Elan train (this will be my third Elan 5).

Thank you, sir! It's officially called "grapeburst", but of course, one must have grapes in order to make wine... :)

On a separate note, if anyone is interested in a 1989 Modulus TBX 5 with a cocobolo top, please let me know! I have a one in, one out rule now...

The Elan 5 arrived a short while ago. I just gave her the once over and plugged her in. Wow! Sounds as good or better than the '95 Elan 5 wineburst that I previously owned. It's in fantastic shape for being 28 years old. Just a few scratches that I can find and a small ding on the headstock. As they like to say across the pond, I'm quite chuffed!

As the guy that has your wineburst one...  smart move.  Is that modulus still up for discussion though?

Yes, agreed! It's my #1 and won't be going anywhere. Chalk it up to a momentarily lapse of insanity!

I sold the Modulus TBX 5 couple of months ago. Great bass, but I couldn't get the action dialed in where I wanted it (no truss rod).
