This is what I posted on Facebook and Instagram yesterday:
Make-A-Wish coordinated a dream bass for Joe. Guild donated the bass and we modified the instrument to echo Phil Lesh's Big Brown bass with a removable Bird's-eye Maple front plate and Alembic pickups and electronics.
As a bonus, Ron and Mica drove the bass down to Terrapin Crossroads where Phil signed the inside of the electronics cavity. This made the bass even more special.
---------------------------------------------
But for the Alembic Club, I've included a few extra pictures. One of my dad taking the front plate off during the super-fast practically drive-by that we did to get the signature. Phil was running late for a family event and we just met him at the entrance. Dad is always ready with his Swiss army knife!
The next one is under the hood with all the shielding and the special little battery holder.
The last one is a beauty snapshot just before we shipped.
