Title: Phil Lesh Dream Fyre tone with Bobby and Phil Duo Tour
Post by: tomhug on March 08, 2018, 03:29:28 PM
I've been listening to the various YouTube postings from the Bobby and Phil Duo Tour. Like this (https://youtu.be/6_4NsXUGng0) or this (https://youtu.be/JORI6sK-OTY)

I've been trying to figure out whether Phil is using any kind of mild overdrive with Dream Fyre. It's possible that it's just the Series II electronics in conjunction with the Meyer Labs systems - that the tone is so pure that my brain is interpreting it as a bit of fuzz on the higher frequencies. (It could also be the YouTube encoding as well I suppose).

But it sounds like there's a tiny bit of fur on the highest frequencies of the the attack.

I know Phil had a couple of overdrives on his pedal-board during the Fare Thee Well run.

Do any of you know if he's using any type of overdrive or fuzz with Dream Fyre on the Bobby and Phil run?

Wow, right you are! I've seen his name on a few credits, but that's just about everything I could have wanted to know! Thanks!

Funny thought... I have that same MXR compressor and chorus, but use radically different settings.

Just two of the MANY reasons I don't sound like Phil!   ::)

I'll show myself out now...  ;D
