Yes, as of yesterday, I am a duly ordained priest in The Church Of The Latter-Day Dude!
Check it out at http://dudeism.com/ (http://dudeism.com/) if you want to abide.
Peter (who needed this, as he'd been getting really uptight in his thinking lately)
-
You'll probably need a robe.
-
What's their position on beer drinking?
-
Beer drinking is fine - but white Russians are a sacrament.....

Okay, this really makes me want to get off my ass and get my cult off the ground The Church of Lorne Greene; and yes, I have the domain name...if nothing else, I wanna see Praise the Lorne! bumper stickers out there...I'll explain the revelation that started it later, but I'm ready for bed now and not ready for a sermon...Tony
-
Tony, Those bumper stickers could turn out to be a real Bonanza for you.
-
OK, Tony, sounds good - but I don't think you'll get a lot of women to convert; remember, falling for a Cartwright is the female equivalent of wearing a red shirt.....

The Dude abides.
Lorne Greene Rides.
Bill, tgo
-
Peter, what shall we call you now, "Your Dudeness"? (lol)

I never thought about the red uniform curse but it could explain my relationship failures of the last number of years, but maybe they are not ready to be with a prophet!
so the initial revelation happened in the shower one morning before work; I guess I was chosen...Lorne Greene was borne to Jewish parents and grew up in a farm family outside Ottawa, his first major job was as a CBC war correspondent known as the voice of God, after the war he started a school of journalism' teaching how to spread the truth, the news...then Bonanza where he taught his boys how to be good men in the wild west...Alpo commercials where he taught about kindness to animals, and his nature show about the wonders of nature...Earthquake where he selflessly sacrifices his own life for others; then the penultimate role as commander Adamas in Battlestar Galactica leading his people to the promised land of earth...so Marshall Macluan was sorta right as the medium was still the messenger, but we missed the message...There is more but it's too late for that now...
-
In Bonanza Lorne played a patriarchal figure guiding 3 boisterous young men through life on a frontier.
In Battlestar Galatcica, he played a patriarchal figure guiding 3 boisterous young men through life on a frontier.
Such depth as an actor! ;D
But seriously, you have thought this out well.
Peter (who loves both shows, but regrets Lorne never did a duet album with Shatner)

"Penultimate" is one of those words I used to think meant something very different than what it actually did, which would lead to me completely missing the point being made. Used in a sentence, it is sometimes, but certainly not always, the penultimate word.
Excuse the hijack; it's just an interesting word.

I agree Dave - and always wondered if Arthur's surname was Pendragon, why was England never ruled by dragons?
Peter (who even makes himself wonder about him sometimes)

Peter, it is true what you say, but I think that was studio budget on galactica; there was a lot of ugly stuff to make for that show...ever notice the Pontiac Aztek looks like a vehicle from the show?...anyway, I should do something with my cult, if only to be a positive one...mind you, I'll look into Dudeism as it can't be bad...but really, the whole thing came to me out of nowhere in the shower; when I told it to my coworkers they said 'sign me up'...
