Very curious about Stanley's new Stratocaster Bass. Interesting concept. Does anyone know if it is enabled with (Alembic) electronics/pickups or any other details?

Looks like this bass is ready to rock, but it's not a Fender

I personally have no use for such a bass.

It's interesting for sure, looks well thought out. I'm with Jazzyvee though... fun as it might be to mess with, I probably just wouldn't be able to use it onstage. But if you read, it seems like they plan to market it as kind of a special effect guitar rather than a main ax. I dunno... could be a fun thing for a couple tunes.
I am only guessing they will appeal wildly to whom they appeal, and be largely bypassed by the bigger group.

Definitely looks like fun. I'm not sure what constitutes this though - “the most advanced evolution in electric bass”. :-X

Not a lot of info on what the electronics actually are.

At that price, I seriously doubt it has Alembic electronics.
Bill, tgo

Nah, but that might be fun. Stick some STR Pickups/Activators in there. Conversely, they are mostly getting bashed over on TalkBass. I just... if you can't find anything nice to say, y'know? Why post it? Criticize, yeah. Put something constructive up. ::)
I've clearly got too much time today.

Stanley fans know his history and the music he made with alembic so with there being no history with this new bass it’s hard to work out who it is aimed at and who will end up buying it since, it’s unlikely to replace his alembic. I wonder if it will be tuned to tenor or piccolo.

Well he went through his bluegrass phase with those mandolin-shaped ABG's, now he gets his Hendrix groove on. Artists on SC's level are always looking at different inspirations and tools, and while I'm not even on the same planet with the remarkable Mr. Clarke, good for him to have one more tool in the toolbox.
Whodathunkit ?

Yep his creativity will find some amazing things to do with that bass. He already has a bass with Bigsby which he also uses subtly with great effect.
Watch this space.

If I had the money, if I really needed a Piccolo and if I've already got all basses I still want to get, this could be a nice Piccolo to me hahaha.
Cool as kind of joke or tribute to fender legend, cool for the possible 3 pickup/5 position switch tone settings, but I'm so used to Strato proportions that its long neck and the big non Fender headstock really look out of place.

People are correct in that there's little information on the electronics used in this bass (none at all) and the "reviews" if you want to call them that are not really reviews but rather statements like, "looks cool, I'd like one." Did anyone see check out the America Beauty Classic guitar they have for sale? It's more than three times the price of the Spellcaster and looks suspiciously similar in its body shape to a guitar produced by a company we all know and love.

Here are a few links to the bass demo on youtube.
