Title: Elan Information Request
Post by: jimbobv on November 13, 2003, 08:22:34 PM
Mica,

Can you please post information on Elan serial # 90H6047?    I believe this is a Chuck Levin's Washington Music Center special, it has the Q switch plus quick tone change switches.

I rescued it from a pawn shop in Frederick MD.  Photos to come!

Thanks!
Jim

Just curious to see if you would share the price you paid for this piece. I recently rescued an Essence 4 string from the clutches of a pawnshop and I am just curious to see if pawnshops generally offer Alembics at reasonable prices. Thanks

About 1k for unplayed, mint condition.  The shop priced it from one of the used gear guides, I priced it from Ebay and other internet history.  I watched the price decrease over several months - during which I had opportunity to play it numerous times.  When I discussed the price at Chuck Levin's (where the bass was most likely sold from), they seemed to think that was reasonable.
