Here's one from the "what the hell is this?" pile!

LOL!
Yeah, what the hell is that thing?
-
Not this one again. A number of us, myself included, contacted guitar center when this was first offered for sale a few months ago and told them it was not an Alembic instrument. They thanked us and removed the listing. Surprised to see it back even if it isn't "in stock". Still doesn't solve the mystery of what the hell is it.
-
Well, it says right on the bridge.
It's a BIG***
-
Yep I had contacted the store manager and she had the listing corrected to remove the Alembic references. Whoever they have doing their vintage instrument pricing doesn't know what they are doing.
-
Still says Alembic...
-
Looks like it was made by a hippie, just not the RIGHT hippie! ;D
-
I can't see enough detail on mobile to tell, but are those old HI-A pickups?
I agree, this was somebody's project, somebody clearly influenced by SF-esque craftsmanship. It ain't really my thing, but like I told some guys on a similar thread on TalkBass, making a neck-through instrument is a lot more complex than bolting a neck onto a pre-cut body and loading some electronics in it. Not that doing even that correctly is easy... not sure I could do any better on a first try.
-
It has EMG pickups and I assume electronics.
-
Yes, nicely made, other than that big scratchplate
-
Kinda looks like a chicken.
-
Yea, I can definitely see that!
