This has been on Craigslist for quite a while. Current exchange rate puts it at about $5,200 USD.

I bought a '70s bass (not Alembic) from this seller, and can confirm he takes care of his gear!

Still a little over priced IMHO. I wonder why it's not being advertised as a Series bass and he's using photos of. Brown instead? Could be one of the reasons it's still available. Looks to be in great condition

FYI,
I just reached out to the seller to inquire about this lovely bass.
He said he would take $5000 USD plus shipping.
He was unaware that it is in fact a Series 1. He just referred to it as "the same bass that Stanley Clarke" uses.
I asked him if it was a Series 1 and his answer was that he didn't know what I was talking about.
I pointed out to him that it clearly says "Series 1" at the top of his spec sheet and then he seemed to get it.
So, yes it is a Series 1.
Price is a little high for me BUT it is in excellent shape, comes with the original blue case and DS-5.

This bass was also listed on Reverb, and sold this past Saturday: https://reverb.com/item/9702095-alembic-short-scale-bass-series-1-1979-burl-walnut (https://reverb.com/item/9702095-alembic-short-scale-bass-series-1-1979-burl-walnut)

Interesting... the Reverb listing was previously tagged "Sold", but now it says "Ended", and the bass is back up on Craigslist. Canadian dollar is pretty low right now, putting this just under $5,000 US.

I haven't seen a lot of used short scale Series I basses... any thoughts on the price?
