Title: Ed of H gigs; 2018
Post by: edwardofhuncote on January 02, 2018, 06:54:25 PM
Looking forward to another year of music and friendship, my extended family of musical friends held our first jam of 2018 yesterday... our fiddler has this incredible two-story log house with a wide open cathedral ceiling and loft. Perfect space for music to happen.  :D

I took along the fretless Distillate "Doc" for this one.

So between regular gigs wigh Harwell-Grice Band, and New River Bound, plus a developing classic country gig, and another blues trio, I'm hoping to chronicle another year with the Alembics here.  :)

Stay tuned...

Well, after the first three gigs of 2018 were cancelled due to weather and influenza, the long dry-spell finally came to a musical end this week. It had been two months to the day Thursday night since I'd played a paying gig, but a nice easy sit-down acoustic blues job broke the streak.  :D

Brian Muller and I play in Harwell-Grice Band and New River Bound together, but we got an opportunity to fill up the normally quiet Winter months playing as 2/3rds of an acoustic blues trio at this local craft brewer's unusual venue made from an old milking barn. Unfortunately, due to sub-zero temps and some mixed precipitation both January dates were scrapped, then the third member of the trio came down with the flu and cancelled the first one of February. Still not feeling up to par, he also bailed on this week at the last hour, but Brian and I rolled with it anyway.

This was also the first chance I'd had to try out this custom-built lowpass filter pedal in a live situation. (test subject was my fretless Renaissance 5-string) I'll have to say, while it doesn't have the same 'feel' as Alembic filters do, this pedal is a very effective tool for a specific purpose. I've gotten so spoiled by the intuitive nature of filter-driven electronics that it was getting hard to dial-in what I like to hear without them. Can't say enough good stuff about Josh Broughton either... great guy.

...........................

Then last night, I introduced the Harwell-Grice guys to my fretless Distillate "Doc" at Hammer & Forge Brewing Co. Note the framed picture in the background with the Pasteur distilling apparatus.  ;D

It felt great to play with the boys again... we had a packed full house of hometown fans, which made for a great night.

After a good nights' rest, I'm loaded up again for a reunion show tonight with Acoustic Endeavors. It's supposedly our 25th year playing this show, but that can't be right. No way it's been that many years. No way...  ::)

Hey, don't talk to me about 25 years - I'll be 70 in May!!!  (And, THAT can't be right, either!!)

Nice quilted maple on that one, Greg :)

Last night, the historic Buchanan Theater in Buchanan, Virginia was host once again to Acoustic Endeavors. That show has become sort of a reunion/homecoming for us every year. They tell us it's been 25 years now, but I still ain't buyin' that. Anyway, after load-in and set-up I snapped a couple pictures of "Chain-Links" at the ready, and the fretless Renaissance on-deck. There's Jeannie of course, right behind my new pedalboard.  :D

I'd like to tell you all the show went off without a hitch, but it turned out there was one... a hitchin' actually; my longtime bandmates that started Acoustic Endeavors... they got married during intermission.  :)

There was a photographer there, (uhhh... that would be the guy with the camera in my picture. ::)) so maybe I'll get some live shots up later. Here was the scene on the ground.

I hear ya' Growly... I seem to have entered into a bit of a denial phase as I stare down 49.  :P

Nice quilted maple on that one, Greg :)

Looks like a sea of fire doesn't it? La Mar Del Fuego... RT told me that one was built for the NAMM show expressly to show off that board. It was my very first custom-built bass, and (somewhat ironically) is what ultimately lead me here, by way of that quilted maple Persuader 5-string... weird sometimes how stuff goes. Anyway, I'm getting more use from it since this Broughton lowpass filter pedal came along.  ;)

Our semi-acoustic-blues trio (which desperately needs a catchy name... ::)) played at Sinkland Farms Brewing last night... after our slide guitar player bowed out last month for health reasons, we have now added a percussionist, Erik on the cajón-throne. It worked out GREAT! Having someone else responsible for holding the timing together really freed Brian and I up to explore. You wouldn't know it from my bass-face here, but I was having a blast.  ;D

The soon-to-be-upgraded Starfire ran backup for my '81 Distillate, and Jeannie kept all the EQ's flat on my Acoustic Image/BagEnd rig.   :D

The Darkness shirt goes well with anything, by the way...  8)

I second Dave's catchy suggestion for a band name, and add The Other Two.

I second Dave's catchy suggestion for a band name, and add The Other Two.

Funny (slightly humiliating) story that goes with the 'name the band' theme...

We got there early and started setting up, and I noticed there seems to be a lot more people than usual. I figure it's probably because of the basketball tournament or something, and keep setting up. A few minutes later, the place is dang-near full. Downbeat is 6:00, and we're tuning up and getting psyched up getting ready to play for a huge crowd. I'm starting to wish I'd brought a bigger bass rig than my little practice amp. Even with Jeannie perched there, it'll be pushed to the limit in this room now.

So then this really attractive girl comes up to the front of the stage with a folding table, some boxes of stuff, and something that looks like a brass birdcage.

"Hi!" she says. "Are y'all the band?"

With all the restraint in me, I'm resisting a smart-ass 'here's your sign' joke... but I turn on the flirtatious musician's charm, you know... on the outside chance she likes 48 year-old bass players, albeit with very good taste in bass guitars.

"Yes ma'am, that's us... can we help you carry something?"

"Nah, I got it." she says, just as sweetly...

"I'm just here to set up for the BINGO match... I'll be outta' your way in a sec." "Hey, thanks for playing for us while we take a break! You guys are soooo awwwesooome!"

A little more pride died at that very moment... but at least we didn't have to try to play while the BINGO match was happening. But I had an epiphany... and BINGO was their name-o.  ;D. Yeah... no, maybe not.   ::)

All kidding aside, it really did turn out to be a fun gig... the BINGO crowd was very cool to us, and we got a bunch of extra $$$ in tips on top of the booking, plus we got extended to play through May.   :)

Another update tomorrow on a gig tonight with New River Bound... local news story here: http://www.wdbj7.com/content/news/7Four-Roanoke-476718163.html

;D Those guys just couldn't catch a break.

Believe it or not... they do have chicken wire... just not for the stage. Sinkland Farms has guineas, peacocks, turkeys, even plain old chickens, right outside the barn. They also pasture a herd of bison there.

Yeah, the little rig worked out okay. I didn't even have get Jeannie to do her thing.... the folks that wanted to listen came up closer to us anyway. It all came out fine.  ;)

After a midnight Waffle House run, (my post-gig chill-out routine) I came home and wiped out... still haven't loaded-in.   ::)

The St. Patrick's Day Barn Dance hosted by the Community Life Center at Bonsack Baptist Church was a huge success... we heard them announce afterward that the Addy Grace Foundation raised $21,500 for the all-access playground they're building.   :D

I caught a few pics of us at work and play throughout the evening. We had a special guest last night helping us out... my old buddy Ted McAllister (fiddler Caleb's Dad) joined us on rhythm guitar for most of the night. We had plenty of time to kill in the Green Room between soundcheck and start... and plenty of coffee! Brian never misses a chance to trade notes with Ted.

The Bonsack CLC is a pretty big room... this is the biggest stage I've been on in a while for sure, and it felt weird not to be in the cramped space we usually end up in. Ordinarily I'd never have room for a backup bass on stage with me, and simply wouldn't risk an accident, but it was wide open, and 99.9% safe. (3-log removal is good enough for me) I brought a little extra gear too, adding an Avatar SB112 underneath my BagEnd S-10D. That Acoustic Image Clarus II amp Jeannie sits atop has two speaker outputs, so I often stack them under it. This also makes a nice little shelf for Bill's re-purposed guitar pedalboard.  ;D

I'm tired today, but all in all a great time was had... and for a pretty good cause.  :)

Should have some Harwell-Grice Band reports coming soon, as their schedule picks up in April.

Well, things being what they are... I had pretty much written this month's gig schedule off, but since it's another 9-1/2 days until the appointment with the neurosurgeon, I figured it couldn't make things that much worse, so I loaded up the rig and the Persuader 5-string and hit the road.

[cue the "you oughta' go have your head examined again" jokes]   ;D

Harwell-Grice Band played for a private party last night at this fantastic old place in Callaway, Virginia. I learned while there this was an annual event, a wild game cook-off. As a rule, I never eat before or during gigs, but I gotta' say it was tough to pass up last night. I don't hunt anymore, haven't for years, but there is an art to fixing up wild-game, and those folks down in Franklin Co. sure know how. Homemade ice cream followed dinner. And suddenly there appeared some mason jars of drink... no idea what that might have been, but I'm guessing it was also homemade.  ::)

Anyway... it felt weird with part of my hand still asleep, but I could play okay and after a while I kinda' just forgot about it. (so far this morning I feel fine too) So I told the guys to count me in next weekend. That might be it for a while though depending on what the doctor says.

Harwell-Grice Band played to a packed-full house of the howntown crowd, from the cozy little stage at Hammer & Forge Brewing Co. last night... Caleb and his H & F Brew Crew have really gone out of the way to make their place a great venue for local musicians and our fans.  If you're ever headed through Virginia on U.S. 220, just South of Roanoke (where they had a nice long toke...) is the little town of Boones Mill. It's got a reputation for being a speed-trap, so slow down and check it out. https://www.hammerandforgebrewing.com (https://www.hammerandforgebrewing.com)

Anyway, with a little help from some nuclear-powered anti-inflammatory pills, the name of which looks like a word scramble, me and the Persuader 5-string backed the boys up for two long sets last night. No action shots, but here's my little workspace... Oh yeah, I picked up that BagEnd S 15-D for cheap recently, and I have to say - when paired with the smaller S 10-D and driven by the Acoustic Image amp, this is definitely the 'little rig that could'. It sounds fantastic... loud and clear.  8)

*Later today, we're at Parkway Brewing, for an annual Oyster Roast, so maybe some pics later tonight.

Hey, Thanks Darrell!  :)

The guys had a really good day today. I just got home and loaded-in from the Oyster Roast gig.

Wow, that was the biggest crowd we've played for in a while... I'll guesstimate a good 350-400 folks, maybe more. The weather was awesome here today and they really came out. Joshes Mom took a few pictures of us at play, but hasn't sent them yet. I caught one of all the guys in a huddle with our sound-guy... looked like a committee hearing on low-mid feedback to me... I already had "Chain-Links" tuned up and rung-out by that time. They finally got the kinks worked out and we stomped it for a couple hours.

*I had a revelation while we were setting up... it had totally slipped my mind, but the very first gig I ever played with an Alembic over my shoulder was right here at Parkway Brewery in Salem, Virginia... just 5 miles from home. If I had thought about that before loading up, I would have played the old Persuader today too. I wanted to go fretless today though, and this dragon Mica & Co. put together for me just owns the low end.   8)

Sure was, Dave.  :)

Parkway Brewery has built this really nice extension onto the building so they can have events all year 'round, rain-or-shine during the warm season with seating both indoors and out, plus they put in a big stone fireplace for wintertime. Of course they had all the bay doors and windows open yesterday.  8)

A couple action pics... we had our buddy Ethan come up and play a few on the second set. His Dad, Ernie, is a regular sub with HGB anytime Brian, Stewart, or Gabe can't make a show. Sometimes we just have Ernie along for the awesomely fine musician he is. To say Ethan is a chip offa' the ol' block is an understatement... that kid is a monster player!   :P

Looks like I was pretty well zoned-in with "Chain-Links" here... that's a guy who's very glad to be where he is, doing exactly what he's doing.  :)

Harwell-Grice Band played for a wedding yesterday; the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception afterward. It was a very long day, load-in at 2, and load-out at 10 pm, with a lot of lugging equipment around and threatening weather to contend with in between. Thankfully, we didn't get rained on, but I took along my Tobias Growler 5-string for a backup just in case. Especially when used with the Broughton Audio LPF, it's the most Alembic-like of my non-Alembic basses... something about those mid-range countour switches. (mine is also an early model with stereo output, although that feature is basically useless in a live situation)

One of the guys was absent from the line-up yesterday, so my old buddy Ernie Power joined us on resonator guitar. I love a chance to jam out with Ernie... he's an insanely good player, and a good friend. Me, Ernie, and Stewart go back about twenty-five years now. Stewart is in the queue for a knee replacement later this year. We've got a running joke about which one of us shows up to a gig with a walker first.  ::)

Anyway, not much else to report on the gig... I had a blast playing my Persuader 5-string all night. It's almost been 4 years since the book opened up on us.  :)

Harwell-Grice Band had a nice one yesterday, a bluegrass festival held at Crazy Horse Marina down at Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia. The weather was just about perfect when we got there, but turned kinda' threatening by evening. We got out in time though, before the crazy lightning and thunderstorms got going. Had to be at a soundcheck at 8:30 this morning for a Bluegrass Gospel & Barbeque dinner-on-the-grounds at CrossPointe Baptist Church. Josh goes to church there and is extra nervous about doing a good job. I love playing there too... they have an incredible house PA, and their FOH guy loves hearing my Alembics through those subs.

I caught a picture of the guys warming up their quartet vocals during soundcheck, and had Brian get one of me in my standard pose. (I also realize that khaki/maroon outfit is getting a lot of mileage lately... but then, it does go well with maple/mahogany)

One more gig tonight...

That last gig rounding out the weekend...

Friends of the Blue Ridge Parkway support a local concert series on each Sunday evening all Summer. I've been playing bass with these two young ladies for about 4 years now, after their mentor Jack, asked me to help out on some Broadway showtunes and Jazz standards they wanted to perform, and it grew from there. (you may recognize the older sis as the fill-in fiddler with New River Bound)

We don't get to play out a lot, but when we do, it's always fun and definitely a challenge, as I'm very rusty on reading charts. :o  Sometimes I even get a chance to pull the bow. ;D

Harwell-Grice Band played an Independence Day gig at another local brewery yesterday... we'd never played at Big Lick Brewing Co. before, but they have a really nice venue there, right in downtown Roanoke near the old railyard.

https://biglickbrewingco.com/

I've lived here almost my whole life and never noticed, but there's the hull of an old steam locomotive behind the parking lot that backs up to the railroad. Probably been there close to 100 years. Given Roanoke's history as a railroad town, it may well have been born and died right here. You can see it in the aerial picture from the fine folks at Google.

Incidentally, before this little town was called Roanoke, or the railroad came, it was called -wait for it- Big Lick.

Anyway, Josh was on vacation this week, so Gabe stepped up to be frontman, and our old buddy Ernie joined us on resonator guitar again. Gabe (and his custom Dearstone guitar!) did a great job, even scored us a $20 tip covering "Ripple" on the second set. I played Custom fretless "Chain-Links" for the first set, and my old stand-by Persuader 5-string for the second set. We got paid up, loaded out and went to see some fireworks.

*The mural on the building next door kinda' creeped me out...

Not really a gig per se... but this buddy of mine runs an advertising agency and dabbles in all kinds of multimedia. http://appalachianmediagroup.com/ It so happens he's also a fantastic drummer. We've talked for years about a gig together but it never happens. I always tease him with "Dude, I love ya' but there ain't no drummers in bluegrass!". Secretly, I wish Harwell-Grice Band would use somebody like him.

So anyway, he and another guitar player had been kicking around a couple catchy hooks and some lyrics, with sort of an 80's/90's rock feel, and we finally tracked them. Over the last few Thursday nights, I've been going up to his little studio/practice room with my old '81 Distillate, strung up with T-I Jazz Rounds and a heavy flatpick. Finally got something I'm a little bit proud of down. No idea yet what he'll do with them, but if and when they become public I'll post them. Can't say enough good about that old Distillate... golly that old bass is just amazing.

Not sure about the particulars of the interface, but he had me plugged into an Ampeg DI, taking an output signal from it to his computer somehow, and simultaneously sending an output to a speaker cabinet for me to play along with the tracks. The experience was quite different from any I've had yet, but very easy too. I enjoyed not wearing headphones after I got used to it! Did I mention the old Distillate was a snarling, fire-breathing dragon?  ;D

Nice T-shirt!

I agree, Dave; The Darkness t-shirt has a subtle, but classy vibe. It brings me luck too. My Mom likes the fresh haircut best.   ;D

So last Winter, Harwell-Grice Band auditioned for this big music festival, FloydFest. http://floydfest.com/

I've played it before, some years ago (in 2002?) with Acoustic Endeavors (actually, I think that may have been my last job with them as a full-time member...) but it's grown into a somewhat huge thing anymore. I wasn't overly excited about having to audition for anything at this point in my life, but the guys were gung-ho to do it so I wasn't about to buck the system. Seriously... I love my gig with those fellas and I'm there for 'em, no matter what, so we go all in... and got the gig. Not quite sure what we're in for other than two sets, one on Saturday afternoon, and another longer one on Sunday. The guys put together two very good sets, packed with our strongest stuff... a nice mix of originals and rock tunes newgrassed up jam-band style. Some of it is chance-y... lots of opportunity to really mess up, but those guys live on that. They love that seat-of-the-pants approach. It could just as easily be our finest hour. With a scary surgery bearing down on me, this is likely to be the last big stage I'll see for a good long while. I'd very much like to not make a total hash of it myself. We shall see. :D. I'll have at least two Alembics there to carry the low end. ;D

My buddy John over at Bluegrass Today wrote up a story on the particular venue where we'll be staged. https://bluegrasstoday.com/floydfest-adds-a-bluegrass-stage-for-2018/ I think he's got people covering the event too, so maybe some more press afterwards.

Stay tuned...

Well, I survived Round 1 okay.  ;D

FloydFest is a lot bigger than it was when I was here back in 2002. There are several stages going at once, with a fair amount of distance between them. I had a lot of down-time to mosey around and see the different venues. The Dreamin' Creek Main Stage is a massive structure, and a very well thought-out one too. There is another one mirror image, but slightly smaller scaled at the opposite end of the field, so two fairly large acts can be staged at once, with zero setup and tear down time between. Everybody in the audience just turns around the other way, or moves down range. It's brilliant really.

We were at a smaller venue yesterday called 'The Throwdown'. Huge PA setup everywhere, and top-notch pros running it too. We had a whole stage crew assigned to us... Danielle, the Stage Boss was awesome. She and her crew took good care of us and our stuff all day.

I got a couple pictures of the guys here and there too... we had a great day yesterday. Weather was cooperative. Set went good too, but for one little hiccup, it would have been close to perfect. Can you really go wrong with an Alembic bass and a Jeannie over your shoulder?!  ;D

One down, one to go. Check-in is at 2:00 today, load-in is shortly thereafter, soundcheck is at 3:15, downbeat is 3:45.

I had a blast... waaay more fun than I thought. I knew going in, we were really in the third tier of entertainment at this festival, and I had adjusted my expectations as such, but I have to hand it to the FloydFest Staff, they treated us great. Every single person we interacted with from the check-in desk to the stage crews were absolutely professional. I'll have some more pictures and a write-up from yesterday's events later on, but yes indeed... what a rush!  :D

Here's a couple teasers... I stopped on the way in and snapped these pictures at an overlook a couple miles North of the entrance to FloydFest at Milepost 170 on the Blue Ridge Parkway, just so you guys can get a feel for the incredible setting where all this is happening. They were supposed to be panoramic, but didn't quite match to a line. The other is just a cool sign I saw on a tree at the venue we were staged at yesterday. I took it as a good sign.  :)

Just to finish out the post... yesterday we were staged at the 'Pink Floyd Garden Stage', a nice wooded area surrounded by tents of all the region's finest craft brewers, most of which we've played at their breweries' venues at one time or another. The rustic wooden stage itself, it turns out was built from the salvaged timbers of a kinda' famous old wooden roller-coaster that I rode as a kid... now how cool is that?!   :D

Once again, from check-in to downbeat, the FloydFest Staff was right on-the-spot, helping us all the way. Our crew this time had to tear down a nine-piece band called The Hills & The Rivers, (by the way, that had to be the most bizarre, yet coolest sound I ever heard! Sample: ) and then set us up, then be ready to tear us down and set up another band with a full drum kit and amp backline. Can't say enough good stuff about our Stage Crew, Andrew and Troi... those guys were T-U-F-F. Also hats off to George our emcee, Tom on the FOH board, and Leo on the monitors. Totally. Cool. Dudes. All.

And we had a couple special guests come up during the set too... Fiddler, Jerry Wood of the ecclectic band Blue Mule, http://bluemulemusic.blogspot.com/?m=1 and Jay Starling of Love Canon http://www.lovecanonmusic.com/ joined us on dobro. That made for an awesome jam, to say the least! Man, those guys can play... just left me shaking my head. I'm told some video exists, but no clue how to resize the files to something usable yet. Rumor has it, my little hat-tip to Robert Johnson's, "Last Fair Deal Gone Down" complete with bass solo and Jay's blistering dobro on the heels of it is among the footage. Fingers crossed they find a way to post it. I seem to remember it felt pretty good.

Anyway, FloydFest 2018 is in the books. Harwell-Grice Band played well, and I hope they see fit to bring us back again. We all had a blast.   :)

Great picture of you guys in front of the crowd!

I just checked the youtube, but couldn't find any video of your show.

Harwell-Grice Band is playing a live radio show this evening in nearby Pulaski, Virginia. From what I gather, it's kind of a local take-off on Prairie Home Companion... a variety/comedy show, and we're today's featured guest band. Sounds fun, and since every weekend could be my last gig for a long while, I'm soaking up all the fun available.

Now, the real question... which Alembic is #1, and which one 'rides shotgun' today?  ;D

That sounds like an adventure.

It sure was, Dave. ;)

We had a great time doing this show... the crew and cast were complete pros! I was personally astounded at how well put-together the script was, and how well executed it was with zero rehearsal. They just rip it in one take, fourth Saturday night of every month. Pulaski, Virginia, like most other small towns, had a theater. A few of the ones that survived are now being restored and becoming venues for things like this, and other events. Another plus; it sounds fantastic in there. Some modern sound equipment in a building already designed for audiences anyway... it's a perfect match.  :)

Unfortunately, we were short a band member last night, so that added an extra element of uncertainty to the mix, but Gabe is a very qualified lead guitarist, and just threw in a few extra solos to cover the holes. We did our part, and they definitely want us back on the Pulaski Radio Show again.

I've been really enjoying playing fretless Distillate "Doc" this week, so he went on first. I didn't know how dark it would be on this stage, so I had the fretted Distillate on stand-by. Since there was a good 10-minute lag in between songs in the program, and "Please, Please, Baby" was coming next up, and I had time, I switched over until intermission. You don't really play a lot of music on these shows, maybe 10 or 12 songs in an hour and a half, but you have to be ready to play exactly on cue, which means somebody absolutely has to be paying attention to the show and watching the script. It really is a fun challenge.

That is so cool that you got to do that!

Nice pics; and it does sound fun.  Tangentially related, did you ever see the tv show Remember WENN?

I did not, but I do remember hearing about it. (you know I had to Google something that catchy...) It seems that was airing in the late 1990's, during my nashville residency/music career/crash-diet days. I had a little 13 inch black & white tv set in my room on the few nights I spent there... can't remember watching anything but local news though.

The good ol' days!  I weighed 150 lbs, and could live on caffeine and cardboard!   ;D

The series was about doing live radio in the 40's; the live radio part is why I mentioned it.  But the series was well done in a lot of ways, including the sets and lighting; and the story line is pretty good as well.  Can make for good binge watching.  Oh, and the theme (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfFPf3o6I94) has a nicely recorded bass line (to get back to the topic at hand).

Excellent! (and I'm looking for good binge-watching and binge-listening material, so thanks for the tip...  ;) )

Hurricane Florence turned just far enough South that my last gig with Harwell-Grice Band today didn't get cancelled... just thankfully moved indoors. We're playing a Beer Festival at a brewery just outside of Danville, Virginia. I've got my Persuader 5-string and Mesa WalkAbout rig.

The setlist looks fun today. I feel pretty good. It's a bonus to even be here. Going out with a BOOM!  ;D

Maybe a couple pictures later.

Enjoy!

Don't mind saying I did, Dave... every last minute of it, other than loading out and driving home in some of Florence's fury. That wasn't much fun!  ;D

Since his boy, Ethan was in one of the earlier acts "Crawford & Power" our buddy Ernie was there, and joined us on resonator guitar for the full-on 6-piece version of HGB. Since it was going to be my last gig with the guys for a while, they let me pick a couple favorites for the setlist. I chose "Cold Rain and Snow", just because I love playing it, and Tom Petty's "I Won't Back Down" because I felt defiant. A high point was the jam when the guys went straight from that into > Bill Monroe's instrumental "Wheel Hoss" > Talking Heads "Burnin' Down the House". Keep up with that!

There were a bunch of people with real cameras last night, so hopefully some action pictures will emerge from the set. I got Ernie's daughter to take one of all of us together in the Green Room after the show but before we left. This is a fun buncha' guys to be around and play music with... some I've known for almost 30 years, and some just the last few. Each of them is a great player, and together they feed off that energy. We all make our share of goofs, but that fun really comes through the microphones when we play. People can tell how much we enjoy each other, and I think they enjoy watching that too.

It's been another great year, even if cut a little short. I'm sure going to miss these guys this Fall/Winter.
