Not too many left from bluegrass music's first generation...  :'(

He left a big impression on a lot of people. His take on "Dig A Hole in the Meadow" is still one of my go-to tunes.

Here's a short video biography (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xyJIeEy-9h4).  While I was familiar with Flatt & Scruggs, I don't think I knew his name.  Drove through China Grove numerous times, but I can't recall spending any time there.
