Devastating fire.
Simon Phillips has had our attention recently as part of the Hiromi Trio Project, but he has a long and accomplished career, including a long tenure with Toto.
-
There's a pretty direct Alembic connection too - he played with Stanley Clarke, live & in the studio (Rocks Pebbles & Sand) - here's one from '78:

These fires are just awful.

They are awful. I've been talking to people the last couple of days, and it's at least as bad as you see on the news. Hoping the winds die down and they get a handle on the flames soon.
-
I'm in North San Diego County and the winds are howling outside right now. Probably the strongest they've blown at my house in the last 4 days. They're supposed to start tailing off tomorrow. Hopefully that helps slow them down.
-
You guys hunker down out there. Will be thinking of you.
-
It’s just crazy. Tragic.
-
My area has forced evacuations from the Lilac fire.
-
Stay safe, Toby.
-
Everyone please stay safe . This is all so sad .
-
{{Wishes for safety.}}

We're hoping the best for you all, be safe!

My house survived. The fire crews did a pretty amazing job minimizing the loss, considering the conditions they were facing.
-
That's great news Toby. :D
Having had my own home partially destroyed once, I was really hoping and praying it wouldn't happen to anyone here in this little community.
-
Much relief, Toby!

Good news indeed!
We had a fire in the Oakland Hills Monday night which burned two homes under construction. Fire crews did an amazing job of getting it put out within 7-8 hours. Despite the quick response the section of Snake Rd that the burned houses are on is closed indefinitely. Must say I have been impressed with the OFD... response time and success rate since the big 1991 fire has been really good.
Still need to check in with a friend whose elderly mother has a ranch in Ojai. She evacuated days ago but not before there was damage to the ranch. We really need rain here in CA, fire season should have already ended. Hope everyone continues to be safe!

Thanks! It did get a little sketchy thursday night, but when I was driving away, there was peace of mind in the knowledge that worst case scenario, all I was losing was 'stuff'. No pets to worry about and I knew my kids were safe. Everything else could have burned and everything still would have been ok.
