Title: New Owner
Post by: liam wald on November 23, 2017, 09:47:19 AM
Cheers everyone.
I am new here. Just bought my first Alembic. Can you believe it? Been playing bass for 50 years and finally figured it out.
I guess I have been kind of stuck on Aria/Matsumoku instruments for a while. (also Modulus and Lakland).
Anyway, I am absolutely thrilled with my new bass (1998 Epic Wenge top). It is my new everyday/every gig player.
I play it through Mesa D-800 and 1x12 cabs (three).
Down here on the Central California Coast in Santa Cruz.
Best regards to all,
Liam.

Hi Liam from up the coast a litttle (East Bay).  Welcome to the club and congrats on your new Epic!  I think you'll find this to be a delightful, unique, and extremely informative corner of the cyber world.  One warning though - all it takes is one Alembic for most people to get hooked!  Have a great Turkey Day.

Bill, the guitar one

Hey Bill,
Thanks. And yes, I have already learned quite a lot perusing the Alembic Club site.
And yes yes yes... I am already thinking that my life might even be better with an additional Alembic, or two!
Cheers.

Welcome to the wonderful world that is Alembic basses. Bill, the guitar one, is right. It's easy to get hooked on the sound and the whole quality of these basses.
I started with one in 2002 and now I have..... well let's not go there. haha

Well, I have owned my Alembic Epic for a little over a month now and couldn't be more thrilled with it. I have bonded with it more than any of the thirty or more instruments that I have owned over the last fifty years. I have gotten more positive comments from musicians and audience about my sound than ever before. At this point it is the only bass that I play, every day/every gig. Attached is a pic. I am guessing that the top is Wenge. The bass weighs 9.77 lbs and is so wonderfully balanced and comfortable that I can play a few hours at home and then go to a three hour gig no worries.

Lovely bass, Liam. The top wood is Vermilion, aged quite beautifully too!

Hello Mica,
Thanks for letting me know that it is Vermilion.  I would never have guessed that. It is really dark, almost purple with open textured grain.
Like I said, I couldn't be more delighted with the bass.
Thanks again, I appreciate you getting back to me with this info.
Very best regards,
Liam Wald
