You do :D . That's a nice find.
I was just putting a 12" cab together from scratch (modeled after a bagend 12).
...and need a little inspiration bump...thanks!

I wonder if these are the same ones referenced in this post from last week...? Looks like they're in that same area, but of course could just be a coincidence.

Reading the CL ad carefully they are Alembic/Wall of Sound STYLE cabs - not the real thing - allegedly built by Dan Healy which would give them a stretched Dead connnection. The earlier post was for actial Alembic cabs, purchased from Alembic in the 70's.

I'm a little skeptical. I don't think Healy would have built cabinets with regular dimensions like that (standing wave issues) and I sure don't think he would have used 1/4" jacks. I would have expected banana jacks at the very least. And they don't look as abused as most GD gear from back in those days. I bet they sound pretty good, but that's a very high price for something without provenance.

I own some GD Wall of Sound cabinets . They have Banana plug type connections . The Wall of Sound single 15" cabinets were a little larger then the Alembic A -15 cabinets that were sold by Alembic . We have had this discussion in the Alembic Club several times before and I have given all the dimensions of the various versions from the GD Wall of sound version to the Alembic versions and the early Bag End single 15" types . I own examples of all the above :)
The original versions were all of front loaded infinite baffle design . That means NO port .
I looked at the advertisement for the cabinets in question and they are ported and not the original versions . I have seen that design before as well . I knew someone who was selling those back in the the 1970's as well .
I had contact with him earlier this year till right before he passed away . That design seemed to worked well with the GAUSS 4580 15" drivers.

In the early 80's I owned a Bag End single 15 cab with a Gauss driver. I used it for the low end of a bi-amped guitar rig. It weighed a ton and sounded like God. Now that I play bass, I wish I still had it, but my back thanks me for selling it.

I still have a few Gauss 15"s . One ot which is in an actual Wall of Sound cabinet . Another in an Alembic A-15 and another that I installed in an old Mesa Boogie Road Ready cabinet . The "Mesa Boogie Road Ready" is the only ported one. All of the above are really heavy . The Mesa has wheels ;) . The Speakers that I have been taking to my gigs in most recent times are old version rear ported SWR Goliath JR. 2X10 that I removed the original drivers and installed Faital 10PR300 10" drivers with Neodymium magnets. I love them . I have four of such cabinets but usually only need two unless it is an outside gig . Those are light but mucho punchy :) .

Seems like a whole lot of cabinet for a single 15. As far as old technology goes, I'm a big, big fan of the EV TL-606. Been using various versions of those for 25 years. The old Mesa Road Ready cabs were based on that design, as is the current Orange 1x15.
-
Yes , Mesa did in-fact use the EV TL-606 design with their older cabinets for a 15 . I modified mine by installing the same type of machined aluminum speakers brackets that were used on the Alembic-A15 and GD Wall of Sound genre of enclosures . That Mesa cabinet now has a Gauss 4580 in it .

Speaking of a lot of cabinet, remember the old Voice of the Theater speakers?

I was in a band in the 70's that used Voice Of The Theater cabinets for our sound system. Boy, do they take up a lot of space in the truck!
They were a job to move, set-up, and take down again. And we had to install and remove the big hi-frequency horns for each gig too! You
were pooped out before you even started playing!(lol) :o

I had a pair of the Voice of Theater speaker cabinets that I dismissed to a friend a few years ago . ;) .

My 70'a era big, small PA used 4560 cabinets with Heil horns. My big, big PA was by a Chicago area builder but similar in design to the 4560 for mids and subs. To these I added a pair of JBL 2395 horn lens w/2440 driver (?) and the Heils. We used a 30 ft box truck to move everything and prayed for all first floor gigs.
