There is an older thread here about this one, but I couldn’t find it...more reasonably priced than others lately...

Had my eye on that one for a while too, but the seller had pulled it for a while. If it gets a little closer to $3k I'll be more tempted. It's rough, but lovable! ;D
Interestingly, this one has a birthday coming up too - October 21st, 1976. 8)

The seller, Dave, has been a bit busy lately, and shut down his shop for the last few months. He kept getting a lot of low ball offers and messages on that listing, and needed a break I guess. He is a good guy to work with though. His shipping is high, because he walks the bass into a FedEx, and has them box it up, and send it. He throws a check for the difference of $200, inside the box. I had my eye on this one awhile back as well, but needs a $1,500 trip to the mothership for refinishing and electronics checkup. It would be a really nice after that. I picked up the other one he had listed, with the new neck, which is a fantastic bass!

I had my eye on that one too. Communicated with Mica about the interestingly wide neck. This is what she indicated
top: Walnut
accent: none
body: Mahogany
back: Walnut
neck: Maple, Purpleheart, Beech
scale: 30.75"
fingerboard: Rosewood
inlays: mother of pearl
originally made for: Rothchild Musical Instruments
birthday: October 21, 1976
Card notes it was tuned piccolo originally
Sent in for repair twice. First was a "no charge truss rod repair" with
no details offered in April of 1977. There was a "?" next to change to
standard tuning, which I think was done since in October of 1977 it was
sent in for modifying the nut and bridge for piccolo tuning.
My guess on the extra layers at the body - I've seen this in older days
when a body was cut off the neck for a neck failure of some sort. Rebuild
the body up with extra laminates. It also happened when wood would tear
out on the roundover before gluing to the neck.
The extra laminates were not explained or noted in the file. But that's
not unusual for the time. We're lucky to have ANY details to confirm.
BTW, even though the color looks off (the whole picture is a tad to the red
(don't think the Rosewood is THAT red)), the grain is a Walnut giveaway.
This polane finish ambered up a lot, and Walnut gets lighter in color over
time. The outer dark laminates framing the body could even be Walnut. If
this was refinished you would not recognize it.
