Neat !
I like the weight / tone ratio on that one.

Very interesting .

I could never feel comfortable playing an instrument with that body shape and not a fan of headless basses either. Imagine it sounds good and is light, someone out there will snatch it up and be happy, especially at that price.

Love that they also installed 'witch-hats'. :)
So... possibly a dumb question here; are those pickups the Alembic replacements for Gibson HB-type?
I've been wondering if that's what was used on the 'AJ' basses... like this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/182815940355

I have a Yamaha BX1 that I sometimes play. It is a fine well made bass. I do have a little trouble digging in and slapping it due to its narrow shape.

Yeah - these are direct retrofits for Gibson humbuckers. The current model is in an injection molded ABS plastic shell with the Alembic name stamped in gold foil. These 1980s versions are cast in silicone molds with Alembic engraved in block letters.

They must be a great replacement for the Gibson 'Mudbuckers'

Lots of respect in the Price household for Ned's work.
Between George and myself we have about half a dozen. Nothing wrong with the balance or playability of a GP bass. Or any of Neds other creations come to that. All ours have EMG active pickups which sound very clean.
I'm sure the Alembic guts in this GP will raise the standard some more. It'll have a carbon fibre neck and an ash body.
Heres a few Pics of George with various of his Steinbergers.
