I'm all for legalizing it, but someone needs to put the bong down.

The seller originally listed this at $25,000 plus a shipping cost of a couple hundred bucks. A few hours later the listing was updated to reflect the new price and shipping charge. Either price seems like too much...

Well since it isn't an actual Cripe guitar I guess the added "paizo" electronics justify the price? The "finest guitar ever built" and no mention of the name of the actual builder?

Well, after that last Alembic price increase... I guess they had to do something to keep things competitive. After all, when you build the "finest guitars in the world"... you know?  ::)

I don't know... something about me has to admire shade-tree loothiers. (incorrect spelling intentional) The internet is an amazing place, innit?  ;D

But can't you see it is just like Jerry's was. After all I have a piece of black curly head hair just like Jerry's was in the 70's and I wouldn't think of taking anything less than 10K for that.

I suspect the Cripe copy was made by Pat O'Donnell at Resurrection Guitars in Florida.  He was a friend of Steven Cripe's and Cripe's family authorized him to complete some unfinished instruments and produce copies.  He does excellent work, and I suspect you could get one from Pat for a lot less than $40K.  And, of course, you can get an Alembic Custom Tribute with all the bells & whistles for a lot less than $40K too.

But would it have DNA just like Jerry's?

My Lightning Bolt was made by Tim and Pat at Resurrection...the fretboard is leftover opium bed rosewood used on Jerry's original. This guitar is priced right around 10x what it's worth. Priced about right for an original a Cripe.
