Title: E-Drum Amp recommendations?
Post by: flpete1uw on August 27, 2017, 04:14:15 AM
Hey guys,
A bit off topic hear except my Alembics will grooving with this future amp. :)
A drummer friend is in the market for a lightweight, 2 separate channel in (min) stage monitor type amp (50 watt min) for her Roland drum set. A DI would be nice.
She is presently using a failing Roland (Which I will be tasked to fix after the new one arrives!).
The e-drums seem to need specific amps designed for e-drums. I always thought keyboard amps were the norm. So a little out of my league here?
So who do I always defer to?
The Alembic Club of coarse!!!!!!!
Peace,
Pete

50 watts seems quite light for drums, especially kick drum. Of course, it depends on how much volume is needed and what the budget it. I like Peter's idea, but if that's too much stuff and simple and cheap is needed, a Peavey KB 300 can be had quite cheap. It's heavy, but that's the trade off.

Also, most powered speakers have a line in, so she could use any number of them (QSC makes some really nice ones).

Thanks Pete, however she is looking for a standalone amp to replace a ailing Roland.
To use a a practice, stage monitor and
portable.
The drums get mic'd to the main system from there.

Thanks Edwin I have suggested that, I guess the lore of the new is in play.
