Title: Gold plated/colored strings
Post by: hammer on June 13, 2017, 03:00:47 PM
Does anyone here know if there is a string manufacturer that produces gold plated/colored flatwounds.  I recently acquired an SC Short Scale Series I in a beautiful Golden Koa and I'm interested in trying it out with gold coated strings.  Looking online all I can find is Gold Roundwounds.

La Bella recently came out with Deep Talkin' Gold flatwound sets. I don't know if they're available in short or medium scale.

Here's a video review...

Nate is right about the La Bella deep talking flats I replaced TI flats with them and love the the sound and play ability of them. They lose their luster pretty fast but I do recommend them!

I got a set for my Duck Dunn Precision:

I like them but A) they are lower output than regular strings and B) they are kind of "grabby" - harder to do slides than on regular stings (round or flat).

You can get them at bassstingsonline:
