I use an F-1X with my bass, but I was just wondering if any of the guitarists here use an F-1X, and if so, what power amp do you use with it? Thanks.

Rob, sort of answering your question, but I use an F2-B into a Carvin DCM200L Ultra Light 200w power amp (4lbs.) for guitar.

Thanks, Bill, the Carvin DCM200L looks like a good choice. Reviews say clean, powerful, and very light, which are all of the qualities I'm looking for, and I'm interested to see how the F-1X sounds with a guitar.

...I have an old Peavey Deuce that I bought in 1979, it's not a bad amp, 2x12 with a warm old school sound, but it's just way too heavy now. I'd like to go light weight with an F-1X and the 4-pound Carvin you mentioned in a two rack case, and then get a Tone Tubby 12" Red Alnico cube cab. Small compact, light, and easy to transport! That's the plan for now.

I play every once in a while with a guy who uses a Sarno SMS Classic pre with the Jerry mod, into the Carvin DCM200L, into a 1x12. Sounds great and very portable. Being as I already had the F2-B from when I used to play through a rack system, (Mesa 50/50 power amp and 2 2x12 cabs - wonderful in the studio/major hassle to move), I picked up one of the Carvins, a two-space rack, and a couple of 1x12s for two K-120s I had, (one reconed in hemp by John Harrison at Tone Tubby before he passed away). Now I can bring both 1x12s and go stereo, or just one cab if I want to travel even lighter. After years of schlepping heavy stuff like the rack, a Boogie Mark III and extra Theil cab in hardwood, blackface Pro Reverb with D-120's, this lightweight rid is a godsend. I get plenty enough tone from my Alembic electronics, pedals, and the F2-B. Since I play clean, I really don't miss overdriving power tubes - and my back thanks me each and every gig!
