Neat bass! I had a Modulus Blackstar guitar for a while that I liked, but I sure didn't pay that kind of money for it.

I didn't really like the body when I first looked at it so I didn't look more closely - it's actually pretty cool - Fender-style headstock on a neck-through? ok. Alembic pickups - very cool!

I bid on this on last fall, when it was auctioned. It was put on display in Dallas, before the sale. I did not get to play it, or get a close look. It shows some wear, and zoom in on the bridge for a closer look. Something weird going on there. Also appeared that the Alembic pickups were added later, because of what appeared to be extra screw holes. Do not know what the preamps are. Again, I did not get to hold it, or see it up close. I think the asking price is a bit optimistic, but it is know that the seller is a great guy to deal with, and has an impressive inventory.

My guess is that it started life with the custom Bartolinis that they were using back then.

what a price, very nice bass, but not original indeed.

Oh yeah, saw that bass when it was posted on TalkBass several months ago (different auction). Definitely not original...and sadly, a pretty ugly hack job at that.

I bid on it when it was listed with the Heritage Auction last fall. The bridge seemed really weird how it had been eroded away close to he body. Zoom in to see it. It was part of a collection from a German bass player.

Except that has no Alembic parts and it is not a neck through. I'd buy the bass at the top of this thread for that price in a heartbeat, though!
