I'd be among the last to question anyone's 'personal collection', (especially anyone with that bass in his/her collection...! :o ) but 34" is long-scale, right?
Mica, if you're reading this... ^THAT BASS^ looks eerily familiar. Lol! ;D

Build sheet in the photos says 32"... listing says both short scale and 34" scale, serial number is wrong in the listing, too. No cable or power supply. Sweet looking bass. I own 78-1172 and the walnut veneers on the headstock look like they could be from the same batch of wood.

Greg, I figured you would like that one! :)
He's selling an '81 Series I also, so he may have gotten the scale lengths mixed up. Both are nice looking basses though.

Yep, you've got me figured Rob. Tough, wasn't it? :D
That maple-topped Standard Omega is (for me at least) the iconic image that comes to mind when I think of an Alembic. Somebody I work with often asks why the wait for the Custom isn't driving me crazy. The answer is, first of all, I'm fortunate enough to have two other Alembics to choose from anytime I want, and second, the Custom is the realization of a dream that kinda' started with the people that built this very bass. I could've, (and almost did) just wait for the right vintage one to come along (like this one ::)) but this way see, the same people are building one especially for me, down to the last detail. It's been worth every minute, and extra nickel.
That said, some days are twitchy. Especially when threads like this one show up at bedtime the night before. ;D

I like the fretboard on this one too.
