I just bought this Essence in San Jose on consignment from a reputable Alembic dealer.
I have attached pictures....

Hi Mica, This bass came in what I assume is a factory case. Can you verify that as well?

Hi Scott,
The case looks original from here. This is what I found in the file:
serial number: 92K7123
model name: Essence
model number: KLB4
top: Flame Maple
accent: Walnut pinstripe
body: Maple
neck: 3-piece Maple
scale: 34" long
fingerboard: Ebony
pickups: MXY4
controls: "Essence" volume, pan, filter, mono output
originally made for: Arnoldt Williams Music, MI
birthday: April 2, 1992
The original owner registered the bass in 1993 and was from Michigan.
This is the original Essence body shape - if you compare to the newer ones on the product page, there is less room between the tailpiece and the end of the body. The bridge has the old black screws on it. This is a nice little birthday present for your bass - a good cleaning of the brass and some stainless steel screws (http://alembic.stores.yahoo.net/bridgerehabkit.html).

Hi Mica,
Thank you for all of the information about my new pride and joy!
I have already polished the brass to a beautiful shine, oiled the fingerboard with lemon oil (per your recommendation) and put a new set of strings on her.
I think I'll order the stainless, but for now I wanted to get her back together so I could enjoy playing her.
One question for you Mica......Will I need the intonation screws cut down? I know it says anything after 1985, but it does say fits most......Just want to make sure before ordering. ;)
Also, I saw a link somewhere on the forum about an Alembic patch........Are they still available?
Thanks again,
Scott

The bridge looks great now! You won't need to cut the screws down - the standard ones will fit just right.
Yes! We still have the embroidered patches, they are in the online store as well.

Thanks! Nothing a little elbow grease couldn't take care of. Even the head badge got some love!
I appreciate all of your time Mica!
Have a great day,
Scott
