Headed to the UK for 10 days in July. The better half has spoken for much of the time, but would love to buy a pint for any of my Alembic brethren across the pond if we can get connected up. Graeme? Delano?

whereabouts are you heading John? We're about halfway between Edinburgh and Glasgow so I'd be happy to meet up at either if you're up this way. it'd have to be before the 10th July as we're off to Washington DC that day.

Hi, do you know which part of the UK you are travelling to yet? I'm in the midlands fairly central to the country and about 110 miles from London so depending on where my next work contract takes me I could be free at that time. Best to PM me your details and we can take it from there.

Arriving in London on 7/4, taking the morning train to Edinburgh 7/6, staying that night and the next, then the afternoon train back to London 7/8. There until 7/15 when we fly out back to Dallas. Sounds like it's at least possible to meet up. And of course would love your recommendations on music and venues, etc.

Should be able to get into Edinburgh the Friday night - 7th July. There's a few live music venues but there's a couple that I used to play at regularly that usually put on great bands. First is Whistlebinkies. They usually put on 3 bands a night - 7-9, 9-11 and 11-1. Thursday, Fridays and Saturdays tend to be more established bands so you know the standard should be good.

The other is Finnegans wake - an irish bar who mainly put on music with a traditional celtic theme although again, they will put on Covers bands at weekends. Music usually starts around 10pm.

None of the venues in Edinburgh tend to publish gig listings more than a month in advance. You can take a look at the local gigguide for other options..

Have fun with your planning and hopefully we'll get to meet up.

Way up on my Bucket List is a trip to the U.K. Would love to visit our family's ancestral home in Huncote... just to see if I recognize anyone! ;D There's an old-old pub there called The Red Lion that advertises as a venue for live music. That would be a fun thing to play.
If it ever happens, will definitely try to arrange a meet-up with some of the British Alembicans.
