Title: SF2 Questions
Post by: nemesis on December 12, 2016, 10:35:38 AM
Questions for the group. I have a Series I short scale. I play it stereo using a F-2B going to a QSC stereo power amp. It all feeds a pair of fEarful’s. 15/6/1 for the neck PU and a 12/6/1 for the bridge PU. I love the stereo setup and have been using it a long time. I was thinking about asking Santa for a SF2 to add to the system. I have questions for the experts, being a nube and all...
First Is I see as best I can that there is only one input, or am I missing something? If it is, a single plug, Is it a stereo input all on one plug with the tip and shaft as the methodology? Or or or....
Second is no doubt it opens up the sound spectrum in many ways. What might one expect from that? I have never used anything like this and just wondering.

Thanks for all your help, and sorry for the silly questions.

Jon

Here are some things that might help.
You can plug both outputs into the rear of the SF-2 in stereo mode then out from there to your QSC

Here is a thread that might answer some of your questions.

Yes I do have one and to be honest I don't really use it often at all and when I do it's hardly ever on my series basses maybe a couple of gigs that's all on those. When I do use it it's pretty subtle just to add some richness in the bottom.

Nemesis I have a have 4 Alembic basses, three have Europa/Rogue electronics and one with Orion electronics. None are stereo so I can't help you with the stereo part.  But I do have a F2B pre amp and a SF-2 super filter which I run through an I nuke 6000 power amp. I also have fEARful speakers 15/6/1 a 15/6 and a 15 sub. What I like about this set up is that you can dial up any sound that you want. Alembic instruments and electronics are known for clarity.  fEARful speakers aren't for everyone, but what I like about this set up with the fEARful speakers is that they don't color the sound that is put into them. And as you will see, you will be able to dial up any sound that you want. From crystal clear earth shaking lows to sweet clean mids and highs. With this set up I almost never go through the PA at any venues large or small, this allows my equipment to sound like what it is, Alembic! The sound guys can't believe how clean and clear I sound, and the band can hear me clearly without me being in the monitors. The SF-2 is an incredible piece of equipment that will allow you to get almost any type sound that you want out of your basses. It takes some playing around with it to learn what you like. I really need to play with it more. I totally love my fEARful speakers with this set up they are killer and can fill almost any venue indoor or out. My Alembics sound soooooo good playing through them.  How do you like yours compared to other speakers that you've used?

I just started using the fEarful combo about 2 months ago. Prior to that I used a Sunn Coliseum with 2 18"  cabs. Waaaaay back when I was playing out a lot I used the Coliseum setup on the neck PU and a SUnn Concert with 2 4X12 cabs on the bridge PU. That was an AWESOME building mover. WOW the sound of the fEarfuls is so far superior to that Sunn 70's setup. And much lighter and smaller obviously. So know the monster Coliseum is parked in the corner, awaiting a Who tribute band to take it off my hands. Really happy with the sound of the fEarfuls.
