Title: Barefaced One 10 cabinet
Post by: Glynn on December 01, 2016, 07:33:39 AM
Just taken delivery of a Barefaced One 10 cabinet. The company is based in Brighton UK. www.barefacedbass.com
Playing at home at the moment with GenzBenz Streamliner 900 and Alembic Orion 4 and Fender BG29 Electro Acoustic.
This cab is AMAZING and weighs only 7.5kg (16 lbs) !!!  It costs around £300.  Customer service is 1st class.
Yet to gig it at weekend. :) :) :)

My post....no idea what that bit "size=78% etc." at the end is all about.

Glynn, I have never heard of the Barefaced group before - after perusing their website I certainly would be interested in what audience/ band members/ soundguy think of the speaker's performance (sounds like you love it already)!

Will report back.  Plucking up courage to leave my Bergantino HD112 at home :-[ .

Alex and Barefaced have a great reputation over at Talkbass and with speaker builders I know. I'd love to try one of his cabinets some time.

Let us know!

Done two different gigs with the Barefaced One 10 cab.  One against fiddle/mandolin for Appalachian dancers and using electro-acoustic Fender B29 and the other with a jazz/boogie band against keyboard, alto sax, two trumpets, pedal steel/electric blues guitar and a New Orleans style drummer (loosely tuned kit) using Alembic Orion 4 - all results very, very good.
Next one is against 7-piece jazz and blues band.
The Bergantino HD112 still has the edge but the Barefaced doing a brilliant job at nearly a third of the weight.  Horses for courses and all that.

Thanks for the feedback Glynn - It met audience/ back-of-room approval also?

Back in the day of more frequent gigging I was fortunate that my girlfriend (now wife) would walk around the room and give me honest feedback on my sound.  Sometimes she was brutally honest - - so what else to do but marry her?  :D

Absolutely, not a big room but bad acoustically and a chap at the bar commented favourably that it was a good solid sound that fitted with the rest of the band.  That will do for me!

Also I DID leave the Berg at home with no regrets.
