Title: 3 position Q switch for Rogue electronics
Post by: slawie on August 24, 2016, 08:08:53 PM
I have a 5 string Essence with Rogue electronics that has a 2 position Q switch.
I would like to install a 3 position Q switch in it's place.
My bass has the side entry instrument cable socket.
Can it be done? How can I order the parts?
Thanks for your response.

Slawie, that mod came up on a recent thread here:

(near the end, Mica explains the procedure)

I absolutely love the 3-position Q-switch on my Persuader, and if there was just one thing I would change about my Distillate (very similar to your Rogue electronics) I'd swap out the standard 2-position switch for a 3-way. (someone please correct me if I'm off on the numbers here) If I remember correctly,  a 2-position Q-switch is 0-8dB, but the 3-position switch gives the option of 0-3-6 dB of boost to the Q setting. To my ears, the 8 dB bump is just a little harsh for most music I'm playing... probably a great option for some here, just not very helpful to my current gigs. Over time, I've found my happy spot is with the Q-switch in the middle setting, and the Filter about 40-60% open. With the Distillate, I tend to leave the Q off, roll the Filter back to taste, and bump the lows a bit.

Hope that helps...

PS- I wouldn't think there to be an issue with extra space required since you'd only be replacing a switch with another switch.

Europa/Rogue electronics has a different board, iirc the same as Spoiler and Distillate electronics and can't be modded with this switch...
The switch in the webshop is only for the modular Activator Filter modules:

I think the difference is that the resistors are on the Europa/Rogue  main board rather than on the switch (not 100% sure about that)
