Let me post just a couple of snapshots ...
-
Beautiful bass! Has that back laminate been sitting around the shop for 40 yrs, or is there a new batch of that crazy zebrawood?
-
The zebrawood back laminate was Susan and Mica's suggestion, when I asked for an ebony front. It struck me too that it had that bit of swagger to the grain and even some bird's eye figuring like *the* zebrawood, but I honestly don't know.
Here's the front, for good measure:
-
Fantastic!
-
Stunning looking bass. Love the wood selection. If I ordered a custom build I would have a really difficult time choosing between a walnut and cocobolo top for both tonal and cosmetic reasons.
-
Looks great Adriaan. I hadn't seen the back of the headstock... the zebrawood was a very good call. Classy!
-
Hey Gregory, the heel shot is especially for you, to show what several pieces of wood look like with a satin finish, vs gloss. The peghead back & sides are satin too. Hope it helps!
-
Absolutely, thanks Adriaan. Will Gunn had actually sent me a similar picture showing the satin-feel neck a little while back. Whew, so many things to think about... I hadn't really contemplated selectively polishing this part or that, but that satiny reverse of the headstock has me thinking. ::)
-
Extremely awesome, congrats! 8)
Your Low B test was successful, could be heard loud and clear over here! :D Lol (http://waldnet.nl/wn/nieuws/52057/Knal_gehoord?_F16s_onderschepten_vliegtuig.html)

must listen to this monster........
-
So way back when, Mica took these glamour shots, and I've been keeping them to myself - time for making amends!
-
Belated Compliments Adriaan... that is a sweet one. 8)

I love it ! Exemplary and beautiful . There may be a six in my future !
-
Still pretty!!
-
Always a treat to see the "official" photos made by Mica... thanks for posting!
-
Beautiful bass !!
-
Very nice :)
-
Gosh Adriaan, fantastic!!!
-
I know, I know. Call me Mr Luckypants.
Not sure why I've waited so long before putting on TI Jazz Flats, it's a whole 'nother level of heft to notes *at living room volume*. It' s like having a badass double bass that sounds soft and deep and throaty and woody and creamy all at once.
Full disclosure: through an SWR Workingman's 12 combo on a tiltback stand in the niche under the staircase.

We may need to see a picture of the staircase and niche in question for a better understanding of this "full disclosure". :)

You get a pretty good idea from the picture of the crown headstock, in reply #2. :o
Ask me about the wallpaper.

Adriaan , I love your six with that head stock . Within the process of my mentation regarding what features would be an aspect of a definitive blue print for my " Six in the future" , a combination of yours and the recent Wave makes sense to me In a design incorporating neck LEDs , I seem to be favoring electronics inclusive of the 5 PIN connection as well as string spacing as on the " Wave ". My thoughts are passing through all of such definitive options :) . I also love David's six as well , therefore I am looking at all of these possibilities .
-
Wolf, this six had its own set of fairy godparents, I guess i's just starting to pay forward. :)
To name a few ...
Any and all of the Brown Bass family, period.
Nik's 33" 6-string ...

Ah!
Ask me about the wallpaper.
Can't make out the wallpaper; what effect is it having on the sound?

Fans of the Harry Potter books and films will know that the orphan boy was living in the cupboard under the stairs at his uncle and aunt's house. The wallpaper in the hallway outside the closet in the films is the exact same colour and pattern that we have in the staircase above my bass niche. We noticed that when we did the Harry Potter Studio Tour in Leavesden UK, where they have several film sets on permanent display.
-
That would be this walllpaper - notice the lack of pattern matching over the door:
-
And altogether now...
-
Okay; I see the wallpaper thing now. :)

That 82 Series top wood is jaw droping... Alembic basses are really outstanding.
