Hi Folks,
I'm selling my IN-2 for USD 700.00. The unit is in very good shape, all original, with 110V power supply. The unit is located in Florence, Italy, and I will send detailed pictures upon request.

That's the original power supply? It looks so modern!
-
Yes it is original!
-
I have two of these . One of which the encapsulated regulated supply needed to be replaced . I confirmed with Mr. Ron Wickersham to correlate specs and current draw and had Acopian replicate an encapsulated unit ( the original manufacture no longer has these available ) . The two audio transformers seen in the pics are " UTC ouncers" . ( note the shielded cans ) These sound splendid ! A nice passive DI . The appearance of the internal wiring looks to be stock in comparison to my two units . The encapsulated supplies in these stock units are actually most likely from the mid to late 1970's ( not so new ) check for a date on the encapsulated unit !
Wolf ,
Sonic Regards.

Neither of mine are for sale . :)
-
Any idea which ouncers? I'm wondering if a different input impedance is used because of the difference of the output of a Series bass vs. a standard DI designed for a passive bass.
-
Edwin , Indeed, there are various "ouncers" with different winding ratios . I did not memorize the specs on these in question. When I get some free time I can check for you . They pop up on ebay from time to time . I am sure that you can get LUNDAHL to make you some with the correct specifications. I already ask a Lundahl representative that question while at an AES Convention . The answer ; send me your specs. http://www.lundahl.se/
I should note that the Split/MULT & DI function will work for ANY passive or active Alembic or NON Alembic Bass or Guitar. Not just an Alembic Series I/II ,
Sonic Regards,
Wolf

What would one of these be used for? I'm curious

Think about it as a DS-5R on steroids...

Price dropped to £250 so less than the price of a new DS-5 and may be also a used DS-5R so a good alternative.

Still trying to get in touch. Is there a better way to reach you?

On its way to Boulder! Wish I could go pick it up in person....

Big congratulations Edwin ! You and I are now " The IN-2 Guise " In the Alembic West . :)
-
Well done Edwin. I have been eying that thing for some time
The voltage conversion was far too expensive for me.
Good scoop mate!

That sounds like a Western in the making.

So, has anyone had any experience with putting an effects loop in one of these? It seems to make sense to be able to loop out into an F2B, then into stereo FX and then back into the IN-2 and out through the DIs.
I'm really looking forward to this!
-
And, it's here! Thanks, Matteo!
-
Great!
Have fun!
-
Update: This is indispensable! The DIs are great, most recently beating out a new Telefunken passive stereo DI. IMHO, Alembic should start making them again.
-
Has anyone verified which UTC Ouncer Transformers are in these?

They are the O-1.

I'm redesigning all the rackmount chassis and artwork now (good creative thing to do!). As I was making the intended DS-6 rackmounted power supply, and looking at all the room, I was thinking, "Ooooh! I can add a DI, and.." and then I realized I should just make the IN-2 as the rackmounted power supply and leave it at that. So yes, there will be new IN-2s in the future, plus a couple other fun things I'm mixing up :)

Now I'm officially in love.
Mica, if I survive to the Covid-19 outbreak here in Italy, put me on the waiting list.
-
Mica, That is great to read ! Please put me on the list as well for the new DS-6 with DI / (N-2 features ).
I also send my best wishes all around for health and safety through this difficult time .

It's still indispensable! I have a few other power supplies that I use when I don't have my gig rack handy, but I've gone through a bunch of DIs, including the new Telefunken passive DI and always come back to this. It's just got the right sound. The switching flexibility, including the way the effects loop is normalled, is just exactly perfect.
