Title: 88 Persuader?
Post by: flpete1uw on May 12, 2016, 05:39:42 AM
Hmmm,
Here's a listed Persuader looking like an Elan with a serial # with an "F" Further?

Never seen that font on the engraved truss rod cover before... replacement perhaps. Looks like a "Vector" body Persuader, hence the F letter code. Cool bass.

F = Vector body shape.

The serial number should be in the fretboard, but it could have been done at request of the original owner I guess?
I think the standard for this model/pickup config was the half moon truss rods cover and the tuner alignment also suggest some specific customers input.

That looks like a standard trophy shop style engraving (or rotary scratching as we call it!). We certainly did go to the mall for customers to have this done if they wanted. F on a bass is Vector. F on guitar equals Further except a very few early versions of the California Special which have an F but are pretty easily distinguished from the Further model.

You're right about the truss rod cover, Flip. The default is the semi-circle for these pickups. Likewise with the tuner alignment, so along with the trc, and the color, it was certainly a custom order.

I love that Blue Moonburst color! This one has the burst pattern on the front and back of the body, the front and back of the peghead, and along the neck. It's subtle, but it's there
